Korea not Vietnam.Did anyone get their Pyongyang shot off ?
The point of the war was that there wasn't a point. Vietnam was a country that wanted its independence from colonial France and then a cold war scenario ensued when there was no need for one. It was totally mismanaged as far as I can tell. 60 thousand needless deaths on the US side and many more than that in the rest of that 'theatre'.Been watching this. I'm still a bit confused about the whole point of it (the war no the series)
That bit where the guy was filmed shot in the head, wow. I've never seen anything documented in real life like that, really got to me.
Can't get my head round why people go to war and all them wasted lives and we don't learn from from our past mistakes.
Looks as if the US spent the majority of the time trying to extricate themselves.Been watching this. I'm still a bit confused about the whole point of it (the war no the series)

I was quite surprised france was involved only 20 odd years after not being happy about Germans in their country and they are doing similar to the VietnameseThe point of the war was that there wasn't a point. Ah ok cheersThe French had been in Vietnam since the late 1800s.
I found myself saying this a few times also. We (the west) need to realise people don’t much like being invaded.Great program this, USA really fucked this up. They never learn....
He comes across as an utter dick imo does JohnsonAppalling waste of lives on both sides while Johnson dithered for weeks on end over a war he couldn't win.
Over one million vietnamese killed including civillians. The USA never learns and will repeat itself over and over. The point of the war was that there wasn't a point. The bastards.Just found out the episodes run by the BBC are a ‘censored’ version with some episodes being cut by up to 20 minutes compared to the originals aired on PBS
