Defoe wants to leave Sunderland for West Ham

According to Ian Wright Wright Wright

Quite possibly the worst thing I have heard in relation to the team this season. I was devastated when I first heard this. I know it has to happen given our position. But I had hoped that by some surprise he would agree to stay on and play in the Championship given his age.

And? You did.

Don't think I was ever under it to be over it tbf. Just laughing at you creepily asking for a 3 year old boys name over the internet and then calling him a dick/Dick anyway. Strange behaviour

Like I said, you're a better Jack Russell than a Rottweiler.

This board man. There are some proper fruitloops on here who take it way too seriously.

Didn't Ian Wright also say that Wenger had told him he was leaving Arsenal?

He did mate.
Arsene told Wrighty he was leaving Arsenal
Jermain told Wrighty he was joining West Ham
Chicken Licken told Wrighty that the sky was falling in.

Wrighty is a nacker, but if I consider our chances of staying up at say 15% (they are not zero, they really aren't - yet), then I consider that there is a 85% chance that Defoe will leave. If/when leaves, he might go to West Ham. Not much of a story really.

Where would he play at West Ham, they only play one up front and will likely sign a striker in the summer for when Carroll is inevitably unfit.

Would he be happy being used as a squad player as he can definitely still hack it in this league?

we play two up at times. Just this season we've not really had two strikers fit at the same time very often!

I think prior to coming here he would have been happy to get 20mins off the bench for West Ham or any other London PL club.

However I think being the main man here and another sniff at with England I think the assurances over playing time are more important to JD than historical rise tinted glasses.

The perfect scenario is we stay up. For him too.

Where he will end up is all supposition and guesswork even from so called friends who happen to be pundits....

He will go wherever offers the most opportunity to play week in, week out. Simple.

He'll leave in the summer even if we stay up. Proven himself again in the league, he'll just demand to be first choice at wherever he leaves to.

I think he might want to make amends for a mistake he made when he left West Ham. If we go down he will leave with my blessing, I will always welcome him back at Sunderland for visits etc. Would get a good reception from me, love him.
