So, my summary of the stuff I've listened to over the last few days:
Goat: new single 'Let It Burn'. No idea of it's from a new album or not. Well worth a listen though.
Sudan Archives: Female vocalled R'n'B with some African influences. Pretty decent.
School Damage: four songs of wonky Aussie indiepop. Pleasant enough but not entirely essential.
Jenny Hval: her usual mix of weirdness and popness only shorter as its an EP. If you like, you'll like, if you don't, you won't.
Wand: mini album, seven tracks (and one is less than a minute long). Not up to Plum's level but still enjoyable.
Camp Cope: one I missed when it came out. All female Aussie three piece. Lazy comparisons are to Courtney B. Reminds me of some of the poppier post-grunge stuff: Lemonheads, Juliana Hatfield etc.
Tracyanne & Danny: lovely indiepop duets, as mentioned by
@mad cyril earlier. I misheard the title of 'Cellophane Girl' as 'Salad Fingers' on first listen.
Fatoumata Diawara: Malian singer songwriter. More akin to Amadou & Mariam's more gentle side then desert blues or Afro funk. Very good!
Michael Rault: Eccentric Canadian powerpopper, seems to be going through a moustache phase if the publicity photos are anything to go by. Surprisingly, signed to Daptone, which I thought was the label for retro funk and soul, not retro melodic rock/pop.
Kamaal Williams: jazztronica, I guess, with eyes more on the jazz than the tronica. Not really my thing but jazzheads may well bust a move to it on a wet Tuesday night in Stoke.
Wooden Shjips: Probably the bunny of the week! Still unmistakenly Wooden Shjips but a little mellower. Riffs, woozy vocals, motorik drums but with a sense of understatement.
