Cyclists who don't honk or bell.

Motorcyclists, especially when it rains

I cycle everyday and in the City particular as it is impossible to put in cycle paths it is just overrun with pedestrians walking in the roads and not looking when they cross... so you slow down obviously and I have the loudest horn you can get but they still ignore it so you just keep pressing through but slowly.

Like any one on the road be it in a car or on a bike they should only proceed as is safe to do so.

The pedestrians boil my piss as I'm sure I boil the piss of the drivers but you all want to get home at the end of the day.

I have just had an idea. I am only a pedestrian but I may take up your idea of a loud horn to blow at cyclists when they get in my way. Can you recommend any particular brand ? I am thinking something like a 50 PSI klaxon with changeable tanks.

As a pedestrian how do cyclists get in your way?

The only time i ever have a problem with cyclists is when there is a newly installed safe cycle lane and they deliberately choose not to use it

Funnily enough the only grief I’ve had when out on my bike was pedestrians walking on the cycle lane then getting vexed when I had the audacity to ride where I’ve got right of way.

The cycle lane down from Roker to Whitburn being the worst example.

Shooting is too good for them.
A fat lads response?!

North Northumberland is great for cyclists ...very few cars in the National park which is huge

Imagine the uproar from certain types if they passed a law like a lot of other countries: any driver of a motor vehicle who hits a cyclist is at fault and can be prosecuted... So its up to the driver of motor vehicle to prove the cyclist was at fault (cyclist going through red lights, not obeying traffic signs, etc) ... all drivers of motor vehicles should and will slow down when they approach cyclists on public roads or junctions... the cyclist has right of way ;)
Maybe this will happen in the UK come ... 2056

I did have that once. Some fat bloke shouting at me after I had rang my bell a couple of times then said loudly “excuse me, can I get passed”. He started this red faced angry rant about how I should be on a road and not a path. I politely asked him what the meaning of the symbol he was currently standing on. He did move after that like.

He was probably the sort who shouts at cyclists on the road saying they should not be there either.

I've also got shouted at by van drivers for using the cycle path as I "shouldn't be on the pavement". You can't win, man. How dare people ride a bike? Why don't folk on horses get grief? Cos they're lasses probably.

Only time they annoy me is when they either ride on the road or path ignoring the cycle lane especially made for them.

Close by me there are cycle paths........that are used as a car park by the local garage and the people going to the gym. Only once have I seen a car get a parking ticket there.

Get easier numbers booking cars doing this, rather than speed traps. Both parking and speeding wrong, but highway code regulation ignored for bikes, who have three options.

1. Ride on road parked cars blocking cycle path.
2 Ride on path and cause issues or get pulled
by police.
3. Get on and walk pushing bike.

Lot of anger on this thread

Talking about ringing your bell , most of the daft fuckers I ring my bell at are either glued to their phone or are wearing headphones.

You just can’t win.
