Right then, other than UNKLE, mentioned above, my weekend/Monday listening has included:
Ohtis - pretty marvellous this! Gentle, soft voiced Americana with a nose for a good chorus!
Sunwatchers - utterly skronkin' psych-prog-jazz. Exceptional!
Orvile Peck - marvellously voiced mask wearing country crooner. Also gets an exclamation mark!
Mdou Moctar - very, very good! Desert rock or desert blues, as mentioned by @ned_werby earlier.
Lawrence Arabia - basically a singles collection, I guess. Kiwi bloke doing Magnetic Fields/Jens Lekman style pop. Well worth a listen! I think these were 12 tracks released in 12 months year.
FACS - doomy post-punk from Chicago. Pretty good...
Alex Rex - second solo album from the drummer/leader of Trembling Bells. Essentially written about the sudden, expected death of his younger brother so lyrically not always happy but a very, very good album.
Son Volt - I'll agree with @Mickdundee on this one. Enjoyable enough Americana but nothing groundbreaking.
Edwyn Collins - pretty much ace! Simple pop songs played well. One of his best solo albums...
Garcia Peoples - upbeat and quite poppy psychedelic rock. Worth checking out!
White Denim - it's good, it's, in fact very good. However, if you played me all nine of their albums in random order, I'd struggle to tell you which album is which or the order they were released in.
Got a few more things planned for listening. The Beth Gibbons/Polish orchestra thing next...
