do the police do these mass breath tests on a night time, it’s only the morning stings that seem to get highlighted. I’m a subscriber to “the law is the law” and I try and keep an eye on what I drink if driving the next day. But, doing them at night would surely catch the truly spannered drivers and not just people with a mild hangover. Granted both are illegal but the former is more dangerous but likely less prevalent so not as good for the statistics.

Already been pointed out it’s arguably more dangerous the next day. Roads are busier, kids on their way to school etc’.

I have one and I’m not convinced it works. It’s not for seeing if I’m over the limit for driving mind, more just out of interest.

I blew under the limit on Boxing Day at 8am. I knew for a fact I was still hammered.

We messed about with one in Prague (they have them in the bars) and I’m similar height and build as my mate and we both drank exactly the same amount at that point (about 5 pints) and for me it registered well over and him just. A big difference in the readings.

If not calibrated, probably useless.

These days with IPAs, crafts etc you're often supping 7 plus %. Some are stronger than wine

That's true. I rarely drink less than 5% ales and normally 6-7% ideally.
