Aye but saying you took pleasure in seeing England fans being brayed all owa, put into comas etc. Then justifying it by saying they were singing songs is a pretty ridiculous stance.

People don't want to accept that though, they don't want to hear about how a lot of England fans last summer went over there and only reacted to provocation not start it. They like to be looking down on English fans and beating them with the same tick of them being hooligans etc.

I had my eyes opened a couple years back in Germany when I went to a match. Came out the ground thinking it would be like back here where generally home and away fans walk in and out the ground together with minimal trouble (I've not seen any at our place for ages). We needed to be at the train station and tried to get back the way we came but the segregated home and away fans. Us being naive thinking Germans were civilised at football games asked the police to let us through, we should have clicked when they said put our scarves up our tops. Anyway we gets in to the away crowd and instantly knew we'd fucked up. Next thing we knew I'd been kicked up the arse, me mate had been cracked full belt in the side of the head and the other lad was standing to the side trying to duck flailing punches. I had to start just saying English English (probably didn't help) and we were on a holiday. They only scattered when the police turned up. It could have been horrendous.

For that reason I'll never buy in to it that we are the yobs and they are better and more civilised than us, far from it. Each country will have its own. When people get all high and mighty looking down on our lads it pisses me off. There were people getting stamped on last summer and hoyed in the marina in Marseille off the Russians but people hope that the English lads who sang this chant run in to them next year!! Have a f***ing word man.

I f***ing hate Darmstadt by the way and hope their club and fans fall off the face of the earth haha

We were at Leverkusen. We'd went for a few days away and picked the closest game to Düsseldorf and that was it. Bought some Leverkusen scarfs just as folk do to take home. One of the lads tossed his away in the bushes or else they were going to set about him again. The other took a right one to the temple from behind and probably had concussion for the rest of the night, didn't know where we were or what happened.

f***ing hell. I've almost had similar in Frankfurt and Hannover but I just hid my scarf and nobody said anything thankfully. A lot of the German grounds are in forest areas so it often gets naughty after a game but you rarely hear about it.

Only a few weeks ago that Dortmund were punished for their fans attacking Leipzig before their game right outside the stadium.

Aye we walked through like this woods or forest. It was weird because before the game they were selling beers in little carts and both fans were mingling and it was a class feel around the ground. Then after it was like it went back in time, proper nasty element. The police told us to walk the long way but like i say we just thought ah it's sound you'd be ok back home doing this generally so here it will be fine. Then when they said hide your scarves we knew. It was naivety on our part definitely and we had plenty warning so we only blame ourselves really.

Hasn't put me off at all, definitely gonna do another one all it is we've learnt our lesson haha

This was the tamest song the Rangers fans were singing really, acted like complete cretins on the flight and made an impression in Berlin and Leipzg shall we say

It is ridiculous and counter productive to the conversation.

I don't think the idiots who sing these chants or try and goad idiots from other nations deserve to be put in comas. I do think they're immature idiots, who are cringeworthy embarrassments and who deserve any punishment meted out by the FA or any other authority for inciting violent behaviour though. How many of the songs were about the football or stuff that happened this century? They all seemed to be digging out the Luftwaffe of the 1940s or the IRA.

In 2004 when England got beat off Portugal on pens at the euros there were rangers fans at the ground singing about the IRA.

Goading opposition fans is all part of football, it's a song, nobody is getting hurt, why the need for punishment? You think it's childish, you've said so, that should be the end of it.
