f***ing crazy, 9m quid. Here's an idea you bunch of chumps run a series of televised debates, each tackling different areas....free, more widely seen than leaflets and more accessible to all.

Of course call me dave has already said he won't do any tv debates...why is this? Bunch of wankers

Regardless of whether we stay in or out it's a scandal this hasn't been arranged so people can get a feel for the subject to make a more informed choice
That would be fair and balanced and has no place in British politics.

9 million is pennies in this society to be honest, I dont really mind it being spent on informing the public. A lot of old people cannot follow things on TV or read information on the internet and need a physical document to refer back to. There are an endless amount of other things that 9 million is spent on that I would get rid of first. Andy Carroll was 35 for a start.
Which would be fine if the reason was to inform the public of the pros and cons, but it's not, it is entirely dedicated to telling people to vote to remain in.

They've even got the cheek to say it's the government's view, when a third of the government are supporting the campaign to leave, surely their point of view should be heard in this document as well.

The whole thing will be a stitch up. The referendum shouldn't have been rushed, and an independent body should have been set up to work out the pros, cons, risks, and opportunities involved, and the public informed properly of them.

Wonder why they aren't publicising the fact that the Leave campaign is entitled to public funds too.

The campaign chosen by the elections watchdog will get access to £600,000 in public funds, TV broadcasts, free mailshots and a spending limit of £7m.

Well once they've decided between themselves which of them is the official campaign anyway.

People's front of Judea or the Judean People's front?

When you receive it, simply pop it in a plain envelope, address it to David Cameron, Downing Street, put it into an official Post Box (minus the stamp of course) and feel rather smug.

That'll fettle him.

But what if the pro-eu information they are circulating is actually factual?

I've already had a leaflet from the leave party so they must have got their shit together already.

Ah but is it the 'official' leave group? There's more than one and the official one has yet to be decided.

Government £9m "facts" hmm funny how they keep finding money down the back of the settee when it suits them.

NHS? "Sorry Money's gone"
Nurse contracts? "Sorry Money's gone"
Disability benefits? "Sorry, Money's gone"
Army jobs? "Sorry, Money's gone"
Grants for students "Sorry, Money's gone"

"Money's gone, Labour's fault, they overspent. Cut, cut, cut"

Then...

Foreign Aid overspending on already massive budget by £170 million? "No problem"
Using £9 million of taxpayers money to promote pro EU arguments? "No problem"
Hundreds of Billions on Trident? "No problem" (I support it, but I think the point about costs is worth noting)
Billions on HS2? "No problem"
Turning a blind eye on billionaries using secret offshore holdings in Panama? "No problem"
Cutting corporation tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax? "No problem"

This f***ing government man

Personally mate, I disagree.

Not only will we vote to stay in; but it has to be said, the only reason we are having this referendum is to keep elements of the Tory party happy. It just seems a total waste of money

I don't think it's a waste of money. It will put the debate to bed for a generation and people have had their say. If people of the UK are happy with the way things are, I am happy to accept their vote.

A lot of old people can't follow things on tv or the internet, what is your source for that?

Why do you single out nurses out of all the NHS staff? By just being a nurse does that mean you should receive a large pay rise by default?

I don't deny all the NHS staff are being screwed over, not least the doctors with this contracting row, but for me I think nurses make an enormous and undervalued contribution. I really respect what they do, they put up with more shit (sometimes literally too) than anyone else who works in healthcare.

Two of my immediate family work in hospitals and both say the opposite.

As with all professions you will get some who go beyond the call of duty and are extremely dedicated but I can't stand the facebook rhetoric of all nurses are angels and deserve huge pay rises.
