On my flight to Ponteland yesterday we burst through the cloud base above the Wear to the west of Sunderland. I was very surprised to see it in place, despite seeing the videos on here. It will look great when it's done.

Compare the cost of this with what I've just read about a garden bridge they're planning across the Thames. They've spent £60m looking into it and reckon they still need another £70m. There's your waste of money.

I usually spend my Metro journeys buried in a book but the other day I noticed it's quite noticeble between Seaburn and East Boldon. I really can't understand how anyone can't like this big lump of wonderful engineering.
