Wear crossing

£105m = 6,000 jobs and a massive infrastructure improvement.

£3.1bn makes it easier to get three stops on an underground that you could walk in less than 10 minutes.

Makes total sense.

If you can walk from elephant and castle to lewisham in less than 10 minutes you have missed out as you are clearly some sort of super athlete

Tories put the money in, just like the glass centre.
Zero in between the two, think about that one

what are you on about?

Anyway. The Tories did pull the funding as part of their initial spending review
The money for the bridge came from the 'City Deal' which came from the budget of the ODPM
The ODPM of course if you remember was Lib Dem (Nick Clegg)

Still a load of shite and not needed and will only benefit a privileged few. There's plenty of other options that £3.1bn could be spent on that would benefit far more outside of London.

Pwd

We need another thread about a footbridge from SOL to the Vaux site, they are always good for a laugh for the massive rows that get going.
That should have been done years ago. Ridiculous that you have to walk all the way round, through the town to get to the stadium.

Could combine it with the monorail.

Logon or register to see this image

That's because the original proposals were for a 180 metre high pylon, this one is 105 metres high.

I wasn't getting out of the car, it was f***ing freezing.
You could have been abducted..

Aye ridiculous that you have to walk an extra 2 minutes when for just tens of millions you could build another bridge.

Try walking the clem off, ya fat mood hoover

Nissan. They have plans to eventually do some of their loading directly onto the ships from the docks.

More importantly the bridge tower has its little flashy light on the top now :D
WDSC
Nissan are already transporting Jukes to and from the Port Of Sunderland every day. Not sure exactly what is happening there but clearly they are investing in PoS

I'm not fat, you daft knacker

"Queen Alexandra Bridge isn't used a lot" , does this person only travel round those parts at 4am. I travel from Pallion to Shields regularly and there's always traffic queuing to get on the bridge.
When you're finishing work in Pallion between 4 and 5pm and have business on the other side of the river, you tend to find it is used too much.
