The Hundred 2023

Is that cumulative average per day or something? One day cup hasn’t been on Tv this year either?

Every time I switch on I think ‘this is shite’ but there’s been some great matches this week when I’ve stuck with it to the finish.

The Hundred needs to forget about big overseas stars though - never gonna happen at £125k.
You not encountered this poster before? Proper wierdo pulling made up stats out of his arse.

The Ashes total were 17.8m viewers watching for an average of 9.5 hours.

Last years 16.4 was 14.1m viewers watching for an average 1.1 hours. (And this figures are down again, but it's probably unfair to compare at this early stage and with so many rain outs).

Let's be generous with the maths and say the Ashes, despite none of it being on FTA telly, got 10 times as many eyeballs. It's not even close.

Hang on there

is that not it’s whole mantra of best v best to inspire the youth ?

that money could be spent on improving tv coverage for all counties to attract kids who live on youtube

Must admit that one of the biggest disappointments of the tournament for me as the bigger names have not materialized as envisaged.

Yep they prioritised playing in Texas(when the stats didn't even count towards their T20 stats) instead of a country that invented not only cricket but T20 too.

Which think tells you a lot.

It does, it tells me they didn’t come because of the money.

And had nothing whatsoever to do with what they think of the tournament hence my earlier post

Which tells you the ECB have royally fucked up. All that wasted money and now don't have enough money to attract stars.

Better use of the excess cash they had would have been to invest in the counties and promote the blast better. Then you might have not had stars choosing to skip a section of the English summer for the USA.

For me the point has always been the Blast was a perfectly good product. It didn't need a new product to be created.

Attendances have been no better at these 8 grounds than they are for the counties that play at them. Ticket prices have also been cheaper than blast tickets subsided by the ECB.

When the history is written , it will show that the hundred was launched with a belief it would invigorate a new audience

now we are seeing that it didn’t invigorate enough and despite all the wishes that it is, it’s clearly not

no other country has shown the slightest interest in it and it’s certainly not the promised best v best

it will go and then everyone will ask , why was it even attempted ?

Yeah would not disagree with any of that up to a point.

My feeling has and always has been that a country like ours should have a major short format tournament in the middle of the summer in a designated window similar to IPL and big bash and be able to attract top quality players to that tournament preferably a T20 format as that format successful

Where they have failed is the best players are not even playing in The Hundred

We need just one competition ,but it needs to be in the school holidays and designated window all games an event in itself and each game live on tv.

Hard to achieve that imo with 18 teams, but it is aLao more than fair to say they have not made a good job of it with 8 teams as the quality not there.

Been caught between 2 stools for me and achieved neither

It’s cos the US league (and another I think?) have been created/ expanded to cover the same time slot.

The ECB needs to give up on the big names thing, it’s not going to happen.
I think the original point as @Ghfd said was for top quality international players pitting their wits against each other, which imo would have been an attractive pulling point.

It has not happened, and now a bit of a mess as quality just slightly above The Blast and two competitions of similar quality when only one needed

It’s been my gripe from day one

I could have given the 100 a chance if it was played at all county grounds

once it was established as a closed shop I saw no reason but to criticise

what we are seeing this season is just a series of alledged Star players not delivering

and by the time the final has arrived most of the overseas will have departed elsewhere be it international duty or rival competitions

no amount of cheer leading by the pundits can convince me otherwise
