It's a big move after 44 years away, it's not as if he can fling everything in a ruck sack is it.You’re moving a few hours North in the same country. Not to Moga-f***ing-dishu.
Frig me man.
Stay home save lives we dont want ya germsAlthough born and bred in Sunderland (Hylton Castle, Millfield) I have lived away for 44 years - Manchester, Surrey, London, Herts and Bucks.
Me and my darling wife are "coming home" to live near Durham in January. It just seems the right thing to do for many reasons and we are both looking forward to an adventure.
Any tips / advice.?
Looking forward to;
- seeing more of my family
- being near a beautiful city and countryside
- being closer to the seaside
- going to the SOL more often
- getting away from the south which gets more frenetic by the day
- cheaper beer
- etc.
At least you were up here for your Ma.Well I have been living back up here for 16 months now. So glad I moved "home". Everything has gone well - apart from my dear mother passing on.
One particular highlight is Seaham. Really love the place;
- walk along the cliff to Hawthorn Dene
- Downeys fish and chip shop
- Tommy
- watching boats go in and out of the harbour
- etc.
Have worked out a route to cycle there from my house. Will try it soon.
I’m guessing the north east has improved massively since you left?Well I have been living back up here for 16 months now. So glad I moved "home". Everything has gone well - apart from my dear mother passing on.

Durham
Any tips / advice.?
It has certainly changed enormously, both good and bad, but mainly for the better. I think its the people who make a place and I love the folk up here.I’m guessing the north east has improved massively since you left?
Have found lots of great places to eat in County Durham. Tasty food, big helpings and reasonably priced. The New Board Inn above Langley Park is almost a second home to us.Stay home save lives we dont want ya germs
