Mine booked yesterday..... awaiting tickets. 'Away Stand North Stand' is how the confirmation email describes the seating locations. First time at Peterborough....... what are the best pub choices?

Straight off the train, brewery tap over the road, then ostrich round the corner, then charters.

I know everyone is upset after the Coventry game but it won't get radgy at Peterborough will it?

Peterborough is a town of refinement and good breeding (they even sell pot pourri in the local Lidl)! Combine this with the highly civilised behaviour of a reflective and intelligent away fan set and you have the makings of a mutually respectful experience. Until kick-off that is.........

Here's a pub guide for all those coming in. Using the train station as the main point of entry into the city you have;
Straight across from the station Great Northern Hotel. More used as a last pint place b4 heading home really.
So, go left out of the station, up past the Waitrose and over the dual carriageway and you have the Brewery Tap. Owned by Oakham Ales has a working micro in it, largest bar in Peterborough and good selection. Thai food only.
Out of that and along you have Wortley Arms, a Sam Smith pub. Cheap but you'll meet some of Peterborough's weird society in there. Across from the Wortley is a small micro pub called Bumble Inn. 30 people tops and looks like a school class room, one for the purists. Further along, turn left just before the department store and you have The Ostrich at the bottom of that street. Old school ale house, half decent selection of ale & lager, beer garden out back. Back up to the main road and left towards the centre, Bull Hotel is an option if you want to feel like you've ventured into some Mens Only club from the 80's and have your wallet emptied on a couple of pints. Head on up to the crossroads and go left an you have 'the strip' where the usual suspects all are. First up is The Henry Royce (ex-Yates), bit along from that is O'Neill's and across from that is College Arms (Spoons). Usual set ups, cheap beer & pub grub. All big sized pubs. If you head up the alley between O'Neill's and Tesco and follow it past the market you come to the final pub that side, The Solstice. Big old pub with massive space out the back under a cover, bit like the Vine at WBA. All these pubs are circa 10-15 mins walk to the ground.
2nd route involves going right out the station, use the under path next to the car park and pop up on the other side, you have Drapers Arms. 2nd Spoons pub in the city, this is where the local plod try and get all the away fans into. But it can't hold 400 let alone 4k so that'll be a chew on for them! If you then follow the road past the Drapers, as you come to a git big church, in the corner of that plaza is Turtle Bay and Queens Head. Bay is 2-4-1 cocktails from 11am and has Red Stripe on tap, but no ales/bitters. Can drink out the front tho. The Queens Head has a better selection of beer and has a decent beer garden out the back as well as offering drinking out the front. Out of there and there's a craft ale pub called Stone Works across the way but that's for the purists as you won't have heard of any of the stuff they have there unless you're big on craft ale. You then arrive in the centre and going left links you to the strip mentioned before, going right you have Argo Lounge. Slow service, poor selection and will be rammed with shoppers. Along from that you have SAMM's. Good selection of beers, largish bar and can drink out front. Next going on is the one many will know just over the bridge, the Dutch barge bar Charters. Large downstairs bar with massive beer garden, this will be a popular bar as the ground is 2 mins away. This is one that can be Trafalgar Part II if fair few mobs up there. They are having a beer fest on that weekend and have said there may be some left for Monday. The last pub to consider is The Peacock, just a bit past the ground next to the KFC. Closest of all the pubs to the ground, bit of a shit hole, but got rammed when we came down for the cup game under MoN. Massive renditions of Horse with No Name belting out scaring the locals! There are plenty of others in and around but that's my summary of the town ones. Haven't seen any say Home Only but if they do, there's plenty to go at here for you hopefully.
For anyone coming down on the Sunday and wanting an option....get the train to Stamford, 16 pubs in the town centre.....crack on.....
Looking forward to seeing this place be turned red & white!!!!

Shouldn't expect any trouble at this one, Peterborough supporters are usually alright. I'm fairly certain the pubs are quite relaxed regarding away colours

Peacock is home fans only, apparently.

Is it, did wonder. Asked a Posh season ticket holder and he said it wasn't...however, he wouldn't drink in there so what would he know.....arrives at 2.45pm in his seat and is home by 5.30pm with chips for tea!:lol:
 yeah couple of lads at work reckon it is now. Mind you, not the most appealing of watering holes anyway.

Nah

I’ll give the bird to that one then

There were a few out scouting at our FA Cup game but never put anything together.

We were 'chatted up' by one of their wise guys, beside that 'boat pub', and told him he'd be better going away.

They only really act up if they have the numbers which they obviously won't with us.

I think even Palace give them a fright, in their town, a season or so back

I doubt any Coventry will show up even though they won't have many at Portsmouth.
