People were wrong about Short ...

Totally incompetent bloke who wasn’t as malicious as some people thought. The appointments he made buried us.

I’ve still no idea why he bought the club tbh. American bloke who had probably never heard of us and clearly had no idea what football is. He didn’t come across as someone who wanted a club to show off or line his own pockets. Just don’t get it.

Story I heard as to why he bought SAFC: his son liked "soccer" and asked his dad if he (dad) could buy a team. Then Ellis met Niall and job done.

I hate him for what he done to SAFC. Under his reign it was a fuckin shambles and he even had me thinking i didn't care anymore. He was an absolute joke, the worst chairman of my lifetime be an absolute mile.

Says more aboot you than him like...
Get ya CV and cheque book oot....

I held my hands up and said I was wrong ages ago. He was simply clueless and put the wrong people in charge but I thought as did many he was a tight arse and couldn't care less. I never really believed the administration story though. Hindsight is truely wonderful.

I think the problem with Ellis was he wasn’t very actively involved with the day to day running of the club. He left incompetent people in charge and we unfortunately paid the price for that.

Despite the shambles behind the scenes I wouldn't be as critical of short if he sold up 12 months sooner.

It's the final nail of league 1 that clinches it for myself.

Always liked him, he left us in good hands and we did have 10 years in the prem. Apart from making mistakes, well done short.

:lol: f***ing hell! 10 years in the prem during which time the entire soul of the club was ripped out from top to bottom!! Apart from making mistakes, ... very often the same ones year after year....what did he do well? He did leave us in good hands when he finally realised the entire football world was incredulous at his incompetence. That’s it.

Was there nothing?

He was responsible for employing a succession of incompetent lieutenants who accrued a cumulative debt that meant that had he (Short) walked away at the end, we would not have had a football club anymore.
I cannot believe anyone would be in any way grateful for this reckless custodianship of one of this countries most historic 'grand' old clubs.

In the cold light of day he was an abject failure as chairman/owner.

He may have had the best interests of the club at heart but in football business terms, he couldn't run a bath.

Sorry if that ruffles feathers but there you go

He made some grave mistakes and those mistakes left our club riddled from top to bottom with absolute incompetence. He didnt do that on purpose though as there is no way anyone would do that after making such a huge investment in the club. He admitted his mistakes and more than made up for it. I dont blame him I blame the people he hired they all let him down very badly. He evidently learned by his mistakes I mean look at us now, we are an absolutely brilliant club through and through even if we are in league 1. Onwards and upwards.
