Really enjoyed Yard Act on first listen, will be playing it again.
Really enjoying that one thanks for recommendationEarly contender for album of the first fortnight of 2022:"Recurring Dream" by Jeff Tobias. He's a member of the brilliant but increasingly hard to find a way to listen to Modern Nature but also a solo Jeff who's made a right corker of an album.
I’ll second this, a week late to the party but I’ve had this on the last two days and it really works for me… the music has a certain groove that pushes my buttons.Bonobo gets my approval
It's good, though really comes into its own in the second half of the record. I'd recommend going back and listening to the Joy Orbison record from last year if you didn't catch it then, it's also a belter.I’ll second this, a week late to the party but I’ve had this on the last two days and it really works for me… the music has a certain groove that pushes my buttons.
Me neither. Not what I was expecting for some reason.Yard Act isn’t doing it for me.
Not me - It reminds me of Blancmange (or at least what little I’ve heard of them, mainly that “I’m so Tall” song) crossed with Sleaford Mods and Frank Sidebottom. Vocals sound too much like Woody from This is England.Me neither. Not what I was expecting for some reason.
I'm convinced that the chorus from Quarantine the Sticks is nicked directly from a Sleaford Mods track but I can't for the life of me put my finger on it. It's driving me insane! Not me - It reminds me of Blancmange (or at least what little I’ve heard of them, mainly that “I’m so Tall” song) crossed with Sleaford Mods and Frank Sidebottom. Yes, The Fall are the obvious comparison for me but Sleaford Mods are another that came to mind. I really like it but as James said it could maybe be a track shorter. Not me - It reminds me of Blancmange (or at least what little I’ve heard of them, mainly that “I’m so Tall” song) crossed with Sleaford Mods and Frank Sidebottom. It’s very much The Fall to me with Mark E Smith having returned in the body of Jarvis Cocker.Yes, The Fall are the obvious comparison for me but Sleaford Mods are another that came to mind. I really like it but as James said it could maybe be a track shorter.
Parts of the album remind me of New FADs, although they probably split before Yard Act were born.Yes, The Fall are the obvious comparison for me but Sleaford Mods are another that came to mind. I really like it but as James said it could maybe be a track shorter.
Bit too wacky & zaney for meYard Act isn’t doing it for me.
