ArchAndroid isn't rather good, it's bloody phenomenal. Not my genre at all, which makes it all the more surprising to me that it's probably my favourite album of the century so far. Masterpiece. Electric Lady not far behind it, ditto the new one. She's fantastic.

I missed new albums by Reef and Dr Octagon from my list. They've made them separately (I suspect that would be a collaboration to outdo Sting and Shaggy).
 
A productive day yesterday on the new releases.

Jon Hopkins.
Only the one listen but potential masterpiece. Some great ambient tracks in amongst his usual electronica. His style hasn’t changed much from his last album but that’s not a bad thing.

Vive la avoid.
Take Ripley Johnson’s fuzzy guitar vocals out of Moon Duo and this is exactly what your left with. Psyche, female vocal, synth. Worth checking out.

Never heard them until yesterday but really enjoyed it. Russian shoegaze, synth pop. Reminds me of Stereolab / Saint Ettienne. Dissapointed to see they played the Cluny on Thursday night as I’d have gone.

Dissapointing. I really liked his last album and the singles from this were great. The rest of album was dissapointing on first listen. More blues led than his last and although I liked his voice it’s not for me on first listen.

Trampled By Turtles - probably a bit niche (it's bluegrass) but I really like it.
Hailey Tuck - contender for debut of the year. Includes a magnificent cover of Pulp's "Underwear".

Yeah. To cut a long story short I’m a numpty.

Managed to log myself out, and couldn’t remember my password (I tried every single “obvious” password I use). I’d been using my work email address for here because my only other one is Hotmail. When I moved jobs 20months ago I forgot to update it. Clicking “forgot password” sent the link to a non-existent email account and got the old account locked.

For those that are into the blues, there is a Lebanese guy who lives here in Kuwait and he has just released his first album which is a very good blues album.

For those that are interested it is named Gonna Die with the Blues by the Ali Sleeq Blues Band

Today's listening thus far:

Eleanor Friedberger - a bit ho hum on first listen.
Daniel Blumberg - that's quite lovely and quite superb!
Venetian Snares & Daniel Lanois - excellent. Amongst the better electronic albums of the year thus far.
