So he got leathered?Disappointing from the referee given that Leather has hit after break was called five or six times
Watched the Foot and Smith fights back today. I still think there is a case for Leather to have won 6 rounds, can't really give him more than that, so if he won 6 then he would win the fight 113-112, and if he won 5 then Foot would have won 113-112, so for me it was a very close fight, certainly not a robbery which Jaffa and co are claiming (IMO) and Josh has obviously had the benefit of the doubt being the 'A-side' - not ideal, but unfortunately expected on major promoters cards.
I had Williams winning by a few on the night, and was stunned when the announcer said 'Liam...Beefy...'as were a lot of randomers around me. I have also watched it back and it was closer than i thought, I scored it 6-6, but again could have gone close by one, one way or the other, but 117-111 was terrible. One thing I will say is the BT Sport commentating was terrible and massively biased towards Smith, almost Sky-esq. This surprised me a bit because they are both promoted by Warren and William is 4 years younger and you'd think would have better year ahead of him. Smith probably had the easiest vacant world title win and first couple of defences that i can recall in my time as a boxing fan and to me is pretty limited, plus from a city with a lot of (better) talent which will obviously affect his potential fan base.
Overall i thought it was a decent card. The main event was a bit of a let down and the Ward fight was always going to go that way, so a lot of the rounds became the same. The Foot-Leather fight absolutely made it, the two sets of fans (Leather brought a fair few up with trademark Tee-Tee-Teesider chant) and the early knockdown added to that atmosphere. Had that fight not been on then it might have been a bit boring and forgetful but overall a decent enough night and nice to see a few fights with no obvious outcomes.
Yep, got a lot of skills and nice style but as many say, he can't crack an egg. They had 2 KO's between them in 34 wins between them going into this fight so the 1/2 Tommy points was always a good bet. Davis was game but Tommy comfortable despite the early cuts.
Apparently the show didn't do that many tickets, people were saying only 2,000 or so. It was hard to tell at the arena as people were dipping in and out between fights. I can't see Warren rushing to get back here and it will be basically 6 of one and half a dozen of the other in terms of promoting the Leathers in Leeds or Newcastle. Tommy has only just signed with Warren but (saying this through gritted teeth) a move to Hearn might not be the worst idea (if possible) with Hearn having Kelly and Ritson in his stable. A card with those 3 plus a cruiserweight battle between Baister and Valilly would make for a decent card up here.
According to smb haye fight is off...Lewis Ritson defending his British title against Tommy Coyle on the Haye-Bellew undercard. Perfect opponent for Ritson to look good against
Any word on that? Heard nowt since the rumours the other dayAccording to smb haye fight is off...

Makes no matter...smb said it’s off and haye is a cock etc......so the fight is f***ing officially off.Hearn's said the fight's definitely on
It was on last time too, and his foot was hanging offHearn's said the fight's definitely on
There's PPV quotas to fill, of course it's on. Good exposure for Ritson though.
Good fight for ritson. Coyle will probably take him a good few rounds but take a pasting.Lewis Ritson defending his British title against Tommy Coyle on the Haye-Bellew undercard. Perfect opponent for Ritson to look good against
And the answer is the same as it is with football. Simply stop paying them their money, and the problem will go away.Television companies are ruthless in the way they treat their customers especially sports fans. f***ing squeeze every penny from the sports we love. Boxing promoters are like footie agents now. The governing bodies have lost control, the fighters get manipulated by them, eventually it will ruin the sport.
Unfortunately that will never happen, it's impossible, if everyone boycotted the tv companies that would end it all. Only gate receipts and we all know especially in case of football that these don't cover the cost of the day never mind wages. And the answer is the same as it is with football. If people keep paying for these pantomine fights then they will continue to sell them mate.Good fight for ritson. Coyle will probably take him a good few rounds but take a pasting.
Poor way for Hearn to build a fighters profile though. Sign up a British champ, then tuck him away on a pay per view? Could have headlined a good Saturday night card on sky sports this.
Is it just me whos getting bored of boxing on sky? Any halfway decent fights get put on PPV? The regular shows are really suffering. I bought every PPV for the last 3 years as I love the boxing. Even though I have kodi. / sportsmania etc. then I thought fuck it and didnt pay for the Joshua's takam show. I won't be paying for this either. I'm glad warren looks like getting he's act together a bit with the bt shows. Quite enjoyed them tbh.
He looked poor in comparison to first Cruz fightHopefully it's simply down to the ring rust and getting used to fighting under a new trainer but Frampton looked really poor last night
Does anyone give a shit ? Shirley would have been the worst ppv in UK history...Haye pulls out of next month's fight
