Jon McLaughlin

You can't blame someone for taking more money elsewhere if they can get it man, fuck sake.

If he can get better money at a shitter club then that's absolutely Donald's fault.
Wind your neck in and read my post in conjunction with the one I was replying to before you FFS me. I’m not blaming anyone I was simply defending Donald.

Chinese whispers about Jon's salary. People who say they know what he is on at SAFC or what Blackburn are offering do not know any financial specifics unless they work in banking or such like and are breaking professional codes. Are they prepared to reveal physical evidence or at least properly explain how they know such private information? We all await a stampede of ITK's revealing their information.
The fact is Jon McLaughlin is one of our better players, and is yet another decent footballer and a very committed professional who is seemingly being purposely edged out of the SOL door, and whose departure makes the squad weaker and only serves to demoralise the majority of a very concerned fan base even more.
Once again the silence from the decision makers at the club on what is an important issue is absolutely deafening.
What Chinese whispers are these? I heard a statement from Donald himself (okay he is full of it) that JM wanted a lot more than he was prepared to offer. It’s simply a stand off and if JM can get the money he wants then good luck to him. It happens at every football club.

his agent released the figures not SAFC, so if you check his comments on the proposed move to Blackburn there is a link to the earlier move to Hibs where he claimed his player knows his worth and SAFC's offer is way below the double figure deal we are looking for, now he is reportedly on £5.5k p week plus win bonus and clean sheet bonus, so if his agent is correct then double figure wages means £10k or above.

It really doesn’t matter what “people“ may or may not know about players salaries, or that Jon McLaughlin is one of our better players really, the crux of the matter is he is free of contract and his agent can shop around offering a free agent and no Transfer fee on top of the players salary costs so a good deal is in prospect. He will have offers and no doubt he wIll put his own interests first, so are you saying no matter what the cost, we as a Club should match or better any other deal, whilst not knowing what salary constraints are going to be imposed on the Club. The real issue for fans should be the reasoning why he would choose, if he so does, another League 1 Club over us, as they would be under the same constraints as we would be. Obviously Championship Clubs, apparently, wouldn’t be under such constraints and whilst some might be considered “inferior” or ”smaller” than our Club they have leeway that we haven’. Unfortunately, blame who must carry the blame both on and off the pitch, we are where we are - in League 1 and despite our size, we are a League 1 Club and the sooner we can leave that label behind the better - then we have to build a Championship team how do we do that?

If it's true he wants £10000 pw then there's no chance he's signing a new contract, no league 1 club can afford those sort of wages especially in the current times

Seems to be the going theme , this player isn’t worth x amount so he can leave . Look at the Sqaud now , players sold or who have left replaced by dog shit .
power and Dobson are examples.

I'd get used to it mate. I'm expecting to see a whole new level of shitness next season if we have to operate under a salary cap.

We will also be facing the issue of who will be prepared to move north on a short term contract with no extra financial inducements allowed. They are going to have to work very hard to get this sorted but at the end of the day thats what they are paid for.

Great move for him and his family, wish him well as he has been a very good free signing for us.

People need to realise that this is what happens if you stay in league 1 for 3 seasons in a row. Players that have played well will be targets for Scottish Premier league or championship clubs.
