Is a world without racism possible?

I think my definition of racialism and others is a bit different .For instance Bernard Manning telling jokes about Pakistani,Irish ,Scottish ,Jewish etc is just that- jokes.
But someone feeling threatened ,intimidated due to their skin colour/faith/surname etc is disgusting and if I ever witnessed that I’d put myself in harms way to defend them .
God to hear mate

would you put yourself in harms way for someone feeling threatened ,intimidated for any other reasons too?

I suppose we can only speak as we find mate.
I get that my view may not be a popular one (particularity online) as everyone seems to be in competition to show how perfect and tolerant they are. That’s not a dig at you by the way as you always debate well and seem to see things from both sides.

One thing I was about to edit in to my last post but missed, was that recently I was in a chippy just past Willesden Junction (I won't name it) and the Greek bloke in there had no hesitation telling me how he "f***ing hates black people". Anybody who's been to that area knows the majority population isn't white. He went on and on about it, telling me how he doesn't care if he loses his job there, but he won't serve any more black people. Granted, he probably wouldn't have the balls to actually refuse service to anybody for being black, but the sentiment is utterly vile. I waited for the chips to finish, made my order and asked for it unwrapped before just dashing it on the floor and leaving.

Blame Jozy... I was a fan of his until the utter disaster that he became when playing for this team... man, was he horrible... I stopped being a fan of his, but I became a fan of the team. Research about the team, led me to this place...
Thought it might have been Jozy, but just couldn't remember seeing your username then.

One positive From Jozy's time here is that he introduced some Americans to this mad house. Glad you stuck around.

I didn't discover this place until after he had left SAFC... I was looking up information about the team trying to learn more about it, when some site referenced the "Ready To Go" fan site and ta da found the message forum... I read it a few of the threads on here and decided to join and become a member...

 Daft sod. Anyway as you've discovered this place is alot more than football discussion, as my sig says it is merely the thing that binds us altogether.

That's a great signature... I enjoy coming on here, the majority of the people that posts on here hilarious and some are very amazing people... sure there are some idiots, but hey, nothing's perfect...

Glad to meet you, by the way...

Really? None of that has happened to me? It's happened to me more times than I care to count since I was young and it continues to happen today. A few months ago at a restaurant in San Diego... a few weeks ago at a store in Los Angeles... so you can stay locked up on your own little world believing that racism is dead and buried but there are some of us who have been living with it and continue to live with it every day of our lives...
Thats USA mate. It wouldn't happen over here. You have 2 million black males locked up. You live in a horrendous country.

I have never been to England, so I don't know what life is like there therefore, I won't comment on it... but I find it hard to believe that there is no racism in England and the people are not discriminated against there...

The fuck you on about? Did you not read the OP? It happened here yesterday, that's why I made the bloody thread.

He's talking shite. Racism is alive and well in the UK, and it's bloody awful. Took my youngest to the park a few months ago and a group of kids were making monkey noises because She was on a climbing frame.

People would not be ignored in shops or pubs or restaurants. There isn't the divide between black and white over here. Imho. I'm not saying there are racists but it would not be overt. We may have traded in slaves but UK did not rely on slave labour, did not lynch people, didn't have a big ethnic community. We get on very well. Imho.

I was talking about being refused service in shops and restaurants. It wouldn't happen. Imho. I don't deny there are some racists.

The Carousel bar in Edinburgh had a barmaid who wouldn't serve anyone with an English accent!
