So 450 wouldn't be a winning chance?!? I said we'd need a lead above 50 to be on top.should get that comfortably now.

Think Cook will fall early but can see Trott getting runs.

Mentally a lead of 200 is a big one where as they will believe 150 can be knocked off with one decent opening partnership.

Everyone happy with Compton now?

He has the concentration of a test match player but not sure he has enough shots. Has done ok but no more.

As strange as this sounds Id much prefer to see England with a lead of only 120 having been bowled out cheaper than expected due to a declining, spinning and variable wicket than compile a lead of 220 on a complete featherbed.

You want to bat 4th on a declining, spinning wicket in India?

I'd rather bat all day tomorrow and win by an innings, but each to their own.

if we get to a score of say 580 (Id assume thats what England would go to if they could) then it would suggest that the pitch is flat and India could bat it out.

A lead of 120-150 would be very hard to significantly overturn (with our spinners bowling very well) if the ball was seriously turning and varying in bounce.

obviously if its looking like its not going to do that then I would want a much bigger lead to absolutely secure at least a draw.

f***ing hell, what a joke. If Bumble is right about that law then that shouldn't be out.

Mind, it's the only way Cook was ever going to get run out

Edit: Ok, maybe he had to have re-grounded his bat for him to be not out.

Meh, just a mental error from the Boss after eight straight sessions on the field. Not the worst thing in the world that he gets to have a sit down for the rest of the day.

Pietersen looks in the mood, and with Prior to give it a slap later we'll be fine. Need to get this moved on so we get 4 and a half sessions minimum to spin them out.

I see Ashwin is going for Tahir's record.......

That's a bad one for KP on first look. If that is hitting, then it can only be clipping leg stump.

Not too bad in the general scheme of things: 1) Some nice turn 2) The umpire gave a marginal one out.

what a good solid reliable test cricketer matt prior is. (hope i don't jinx the lad here)

Another productive day.

Precious runs from Patel and Prior.

Kick on a little tomorrow without doing anything daft and see where we are around Lunch.

Great day for England only two downsides where cooks unfortunate dismissal and bell failing again. Bells form has dropped since he changed bat sponsors. Patel played well & was unlucky imo

good performance

however, anyone think the side still has a soft underbelly in these conditions and if you take out KP and Cook, the rest dont inspire much confidence if the other two fail (ie, they arent going to keep posting big scores)
