India v England - 3rd Test

Great start but still need 500+ to make this start a winning chance

Difficult to call at the moment really. Any first innings lead could be a winning lead, equally, it could all be irrelevant as India will remember how to bat 2nd time round and it will fade to a draw. Much rather be in England's shoes though :-D

cook - 1st player to score centuries in this first 5 matches as test captain.

the original record of 22 centuries for england had stood since 1939.

he's occupied the crease for almost 23 hours this series

didn't KP break it a week or two ago? ;-)

Anyone up at 3:30am tomorrow then? I am :D. Going to bed after work, up at 1am for the NFL and the Test Match following it!

Near perfect day for England, still A LOT of work to do though. I'll be delighted if we get to 500. For me a lead of 100 is the MINIMUM requirement like. I'm always pessimistic when it comes to England because we could still quite easily collapse from here. On top right now though.

Another very solid platform with Cook being his usual run scoring machine self. Not getting too carried away though as our middle order can collapse in no time. Also, Id expect India to score well in the 2nd innings (they will be kicking themselves for the way Sehwag was run out as they were looking good up to that point). Unless of course the pitch starts to turn.

Edit: Although Cook should have been back in the hutch early doors. That put down :lol:

as long as england survive the first hour or so without losing more than one wicket, they should obtain a match winning lead.. the demeanour and body language of the indians has defeated written all over it, i really cant see them being mentally tough enough to bat the bulk of two days against a rampant english attack with fielders all around the bat

So 450 wouldn't be a winning chance?!? I said we'd need a lead above 50 to be on top.should get that comfortably now.

Think Cook will fall early but can see Trott getting runs.

A lead of 50 wouldnt put us on top imo. Sehwag can get that defecit down in no time. (I dont expect two comedies run outs)

50 runs lead and india are favourites....you dont want to be chasing more than 200 on the 5th day regardless of how well the pitch is playing

actually 50 runs lead and draw slight favourite with england the outsiders

Kind of agree. I'd said earlier in the thread that a lead of 50 would be par, so much above 50 would put us ahead. With more than 50 I didnt literally mean 50 or 51 though. Around 80 and I think we are favourites.
