Chris Mepham

Think the only thing that will stop it happening is wages. Supposedly on £65k a week at Bournemouth, they’ve just sold someone to Madrid for €50m so will have their eyes on better than Mepham.

CM has said he wants to stay, so it’ll come down to wages/whether he can get better elsewhere.
No way will we pay that for Mepham, unless its a free transfer and then it makes perfect sense.

And keep Alese?
I like the lad but let's be real, how many games will we get from him, 6,7?

I'd rather sell Alese if we can just because of how injury prone he is.

I mean obviously as soon as we do Alese and Huggins will become unbreakable but what can you do?
I hope we don't sign too many squad players. We should be looking at first team players to upgrade current first team players, who will in turn become the squad players.

A bit of Premier League experience would be useful but more like someone with 200+ appearances.
We might have to in some positions though. Currently at CB we have O'Nein and Ballard with Hjelder as reserve. Alese as well but won't be available most of the time.

A £20m centre back will not be interested in signing for us imo. Mepham is though.
Ipswich spent almost 30m on two centre halves.
Southampton spent 20m on a centre half
There’ll be plenty interested if we’re competitive with salary.

If we can get him for 10m and a reasonable wage, I’d go for him.
Solid CB and never injured. I like him.

The people you have is, you have average players in the PL on 80-100k a week, it’s staggering.

I don’t think he’s good enough to be first choice but if we bring in a clearly first choice LCB and go with Ballard as first choice RCB then Mepham would be decent competition at the right price. I’d argue that’s around 5m and no more than 7.5m but fees are bonkers so who knows.
I’d prefer a first choice capable RCB though.

Bournemouth won’t be doing us any favours as will see us as rivals , so will want over the odds for a player I’m not sure can do it in prem

Was against signing him at the start of the window but if the option was between starting him or Seelt against West Ham... Well, let's hope it doesn't come to that.
