Chris Mepham

Coventry. First leg. The one in the box.
A tackle that was as valuable as us scoring a goal.
I’ve witnessed him jogging back when his opposite number is breaking their neck getting forward, more times.

He lacks pace to be a box to box midfielder.

He is still learning though.

There's surely no way he's on 65k a week at Bournemouth.

He's going into the last year of his contract too, so I think there's plenty scope for us to hopefully sign him.

We can’t turn our noses up at him as a squad player mind.

A lot of premier league appearances, will be a reasonable fee, mid 20s, and knows the club/squad.

I’d be happy to bring him in.

No thanks better value for the money on the open market

I think we need to sign a quality cb to play alongside Ballard. Onein has been ahead of Mepham for Rlb and very much doubt he would come as 4th choice unfortunately that’s the reason he left Bournemouth.

I hope we don't sign too many squad players. We should be looking at first team players to upgrade current first team players, who will in turn become the squad players.

A bit of Premier League experience would be useful but more like someone with 200+ appearances.

When have you ever seen Jobe chase back and put a tackle in?

His whole game seems to be receive the ball in midfield and either feint forward and turn backwards and pass to the centre halves.

Pass to the wing.

Slows the attack, cannot break quickly.

Cannot get box to box.

But he’s still a kid, probably needs a decent coach to give him a kick up the arse ( not Dodds).
Did you miss the first leg v Coventry mate? In fact, every game he’s played?

Speakers has all the data on him now after a full season here so if he's anything like fair value we'll try to buy him but now we're top tier there's a whole new world of CBs out there who might fancy a crack at the Premier.

first part of the season , he was decent because of his positioning, strength and aerial ability, second part it went massively downhill, one major thing is his lack of pace and in the premier league pace at cb is important, I would look at others before going back for Chris , see what’s out there .
