Meps was great for the a lot of the season. Its a huge step up to prem level though, and I think we can attract a higher calibre player, now that money seems to be no object.

He was exactly what we needed in the championship and looked a cut above the standard for the early months of the season.
Tellingly Le Bris replaced him with Ballard as soon as he was fit and when all our options were available he wasn’t first choice for those critical games.
In letting him come to us last season Bournemouth obviously didn’t think he was up to premier league football anymore and I think we share that view.

In short that we’d dropped off once play offs were confirmed and lost intensity subconsciously but the plays offs would be different. I think it was actually an honest and professional appraisal.
He’s not good enough to be first choice here but I’ve no concerns about his character and he proved that in the final imo.

Surprised he hasn’t moved yet- possibly waiting for late premier league interest but I’d be doubtful he’s actually any better than Mepham. Really cheap though. If we had three first choice capable CB’s he’d probably be worth a punt but not as a starter.

I like Mepham but he’s just not worth any serious outlay. 1-2m I’d be bringing him back as a squad player. But the 10m quoted if true is absolutely insane and a similar level of player will be available in the championship for less than that sort of money

We don’t need a squad player CB, we’ve got a few already. It’s ideally two starters but certainly a LCB starter that is needed.

Th only reservation I have about Mepham is his lack of pace. I would still have him back as long as we get in one more CB.

Yeah I agree. That’s what my post says(or is trying to) he’s a squad player at this level and if cheap enough I’d have him. Hes levels above Seelt.
I think Alese will be the first choice centre half when fit. But we cannot rely on him at all to stay fit.
