Surely if you're in a pub or at the shops, you'd go for something superior at a similar price? Kronenberg, Heineken, Grolsch, Amstel, Stella are all similar price and light years ahead in terms of taste.

Sugar won't be added at the end of the process. It will be added at the boil stage as a cheaper way of raising ABV.

Was amazed to see that Holsten Pils, now brewed under licence in the UK (ie shite), actually has glucose syrup as an ingredient

40 years ago a few small bottles of the real thing was a canny experience, or is my memory rose tinted..

Erm, I think it does like. If you added it at the end, you would just get a really sweet beer.
