I won a dance competition down there back in the 80's and got the semi finals in Llandudno which I also won. I came second in the Grand Final at Brighton. Just saying like.:)

Sounds good, cheers for the heads up. Pretty sure we've booked gold, one of my conditions for agreeing to it was staying in the best accommodation we could get.

Went when I was a bairn and main memories are how basic and minging the accommodation was.
Accommodation used to be minging but it looked like 80% of the site ha been upgraded

They're owned by Haven now and have had a lot of investment. I would say that the centres are similar to CenterParcs in a lot of respects

We stayed in a caravan last month and it was great as the weather was nice.

We are going back in December so have booked the gold apartments instead.

Went there for a good few years when the bairns were little, it was spot on, plenty to do, and better for them than the boredom of a 'beach' holiday abroad, even though it probably cost more

Used to go into skeggy as well, the seal sanctuary was canny and the fair although I used to spend a small fortune on the river rapids ride.
I've moved to the Haven site next door to the Seal Sanctuary in Mablethorpe now....also canny by the way and all the door staff appear to be from Peterlee

Went about 3 or 4 times when I was a kid in the early 90's. Absolutely brilliant holidays, loads for kids to do, the swimming pool was class, there was a kids club that would take the kids for a few hours to do activities so the adults could do what they wanted, loads of entertainment on an evening where parents could have a drink as well. If I had kids I'd rather take them somewhere like that where they can have fun than somewhere abroad to lie on a beach.

The kids club was called Wizzy's world iirc. Good memories of it as a kid.

Aye, the kids enjoyed it far more than abroad, in truth, so did we as the kids were happier and happy kids = happy parents.

We went for the just for tots week too which is ideal for kids of our kids' ages. The swimming pool is superb and has recently been refurbished. The tiny tots fair ground was great and totally free and the softplay was enjoyed by all. We didn't see any of the big shows on a night but they're supposed to be great too.

We're taking them back just before Christmas for the Christmas Fantasy (or whatever it's called). The kids get to meet Santa and there's fake snow and stuff, sounds canny. Cheap too.

£20 discount voucher in with your season ticket too.

I once broke in there through the wire in 1974 to shag my girlfriend who was working there at the time (sadly don't have any). It was like a scene from The Great Escape only in reverse, dodgin' the searchlights & guard towers & that.

I had a friend was a big baseball player
back in high school
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside sat down had a few drinks
but all he kept talking about was

[Chorus:]
Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Well there's a girl that lives up the block
back in school she could turn all the boy's heads
Sometimes on a Friday I'll stop by
and have a few drinks after she put her kids to bed
Her and her husband Bobby well they split up
I guess it's two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times,
she says when she feels like crying
she starts laughing thinking about

[Chorus]

My old man worked 20 years on the line
and they let him go
Now everywhere he goes out looking for work
they just tell him that he's too old
I was 9 nine years old and he was working at the
Metuchen Ford plant assembly line
Now he just sits on a stool down at the Legion hall
but I can tell what's on his mind

Glory days yeah goin back
Glory days aw he ain't never had
Glory days, glory days

Now I think I'm going down to the well tonight
and I'm going to drink till I get my fill
And I hope when I get old I don't sit around thinking about it
but I probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
a little of the glory of, well time slips away
and
leaves you with nothing mister but
boring stories of glory days

When I went in the late 1970s it wasn't. It was black and you couldn't see the bottom.
