Blue badges

Most car parks are not free for Blue Badge holders. They just allow you to park in the disabled bays.

My mam is severely visually impaired, which is the current day equivalent of registered as blind. She doesn't want a guide dog, doesn't need to wear dark glasses, has a white stick but mostly doesn't need it but finds the disabled parking badge (with my dad driving) to be a massive help. She's adapted to her circumstances so well that you probably wouldn't notice that she has has sight issues... so, putting it as mildly as I can, give it a rest, you selfish arsehole!
Glad you mentioned your dad was driving :D

@becs I totally forgot to tell you about my last experience in a disabled loo.

Was at a service station on the A1, waiting outside the disabled loo that (of course) was also the baby changing. The person inside was taking f***ing ages and the kids were starting to whinge.

Eventually, the door opens, an almighty waft if disgusting shitey smell seeps out and a very sheepish looking Steven f***ing Taylor creeps out without even an apology for having a massive smelly dump in the disabled/baby changing.

(Googled later and he’s at Peterborough now and they were playing Blackpool, the team bus was outside)

I wasn’t quick enough to make my objections known and call him a smelly mag, but I was livid.

Steven Taylor’s shite f***ing stinks and he uses disabled loos.

This deserves it's own thread. The filthy stinking twat!

People can be horrendous. I was in a taxi the other day and the driver said he has got a blue badge as he has MS but he barely uses it as he gets too much abuse from people thinking he's pulling a fast one. He even told one abusive bloke he had MS who said 'Well if you really had MS you wouldn't be able to drive.' Unbelievable.
I worked at Nissan a while back and while in the canteen I noticed a lad working there, hobbling around with two sticks. The night after I was playing 5 a side and saw him walking around in a tracksuit.

As I passed him I jokingly called him a fraud. When he asked what I meant I told him what I had seen and enquired how his claim was going. When he told me he had MS I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me .

don't know if it's common knowledge but if you have a disabled badge you get through the tyne tunnel for free.
i never realised till i was waiting for an escort in the tanker and reading the signs.
it's just a form you can download and fill in. post it off and they send out a permit.
we got one for the father and mother in law. has to be renewed every year (i think)
Toll Exemption Permits | Tyne Tunnels - TT2 Limited
A lad I worked with had one, got it taken off him when he used it every day to get to work and back. Not sure on the logic of giving free tunnel travel mind.

I’ve just applied for a B.B. for my dad. Fingers crossed he gets it.

the most openly abused benefit around
Good Friday was sitting in the car outside of st Marys church waiting for wife who had run round to m and s
Yes I had paid for my ticket
of the 3 cars parked in the bay's and 4 cars parked in the loading bay and disabled bays there was only one person who looked anywhere near disabled an old guy trying to walk with sticks
One women got out of the car and ran across the road to avoid a bus coming down fawcett street
Everyone of them fraudsters
Most are using them as free parking and relying on people been too afraid or embarrassed to challenge them
Today in morrisons bloke and wife and kid who had obviously been walking on the beach dodged in front of me and all three climbed that small wall up into the car park and got into a car with blue badge being displayed
Government needs to think this one through again as it openly and blatantly abused

others with valid reasons for using blue badges should be doing their bit and challenging the fraudsters as they are giving the genuine users a bad name

When i park up I just stop the car, get out and go on my merry way of if I'm waiting I'll fuck on with my phone or something. The thought of sitting there checking out people parking in blue badge bays then fuming because i cant spot any disabilities is a total brain fuck to me..

I suggest you find yourself a new hobby that doesnt involve being a nosey whinging blurt.

Disability badges are a great thing for those that need them but i wish the blue badgers would stay out of loading bays and parents with kids bay. I was giving a ticket for unloading on a double yellow but the person parked in the loading bay i would of used got nothing.

Don't know why they bother having blue badge spaces at Newcastle Railway station as the f***ing fat lazy bastard taxi drivers use them as a taxi rank (without displaying a blue badge)

Not every disability is visible.

I've had the same crap off people for using disabled toilets because "I don't look disabled"
Controversially I have always maintained that disabled toilets shouldn't be exclusive to disabled people, it's a facility that can accommodate disabled people but shouldn't be for their exclusive use.

I have no view on this subject.
But am gonna go to Asda today and stand in the trolley shed and asses this situation then come back on tonight and offer a full and frank view.
What a none story.

TBH that's not really controversial is it?

Believe me to some it is.

I disagree, if I need to change my stoma bag I need to do it in private toilet not in the middle of the sinks in a normal toilet. (Which I have to do in emergency) If an able bodied person is using the disabled toilet there is more of a chance it could leak etc.

In what circumstances would you use a disabled toilet? Much the same way in what circumstances would you use a disabled space? If all other spaces were used???

You get one if you have a terminal illness. My dad has one, if you saw him getting out of the car you’d probably think there was nothing wrong with him.
There is something wrong with him.

A shit or piss
And yes.

I would only use the disabled toilet if the gents weren't available, if it's there and available why shouldn't I use it, I assume I'd be in and out quicker than a disabled person and also what would you do regarding having to wait if the toilet was already being used by a disabled person?
I sympathise with your condition and never suggested that you should be expected to use a public toilet to carry out your needs, I can categorically state that I have never parked in a disabled parking bay.

If somebody else disabled is using it then fine but can't you see that an able bodied person using a toilet just makes it longer for disabled people to wait.

In general I imagine that yourself and other able bodied people can manage to wait longer to go to toilet than I can without the chance of an 'accident'

Because of my spinal cord injury I also have limited control over when I need to piss. I also sometimes need to self catherterise. Urine staying in my bladder for too long can cause me UTIs and I don't empty bladder fully manually. Using a catheter in a normal toilet is an absolute nightmare.

Your 'in and out quicker' comment is just the same as somebody parking in a disabled bay and saying im only going to be give minutes.
