What do we need in the January window?

I would keep Hume marra -like the look of him

I would too but I think the lad will push for a move. Mowbray has said he's been knocking on his door wanting to play, but told him that Gooch is first choice. Mowbray would probably pick Onien ahead of Hume, and Huggins is now fit too.

Our squad is:

Bass, Patterson

Gooch, Hume
Ballard, Batth, Wright, Alese
Cirkin, Huggins

Evans, Neil, Embleton, O’Nein, Matete, Ba

Dajaku, Clarke, Roberts, Bennette

Pritchard, Michut, Diallo

Stewart, Simms

Unless we have leavers, I don’t see that we will bring anyone else in. To be honest, I don’t see the need for a club aiming for 5th / 6th at best. We’re looking to consolidate in mid table this season, and the squad is plenty good enough for that.

Cameron Archer would be a good start come whatever. Jerry Yates/Victor Gykores types we should be after as well, especially if Stewart goes. Were also in the strange position of having too many midfielders, yet it's an area we need to strengthen. We can afford to offload one at least, more physicality required for sure. Only a bit of tinkering required mid-season.

Its a strange one i think we have a very good squad, we’ve just been hammered with injuries and now they are all set to return

Another striker obviously. You could say a right back but huggins is finally back and hume has been playing well

Dont think we need much at all tbh. That can change if people leave. I’d like to think if stewart goes it will be in the summer.

And when Stewart and or simms get injured/suspended or lose form were back to square one. It's obvious we need strikers, especially when you look ahead to next summer.

We’re 4 points off the play offs after half the season, having played most of it without a fit striker, and another couple of key players injured. If everyone stays fit then we could make a run for the play offs, if they don’t then we’ll finish between 8th and 18th - it’s exactly what we were aiming for and expecting this season. As for a striker in January, who do you suggest we go after? Bearing in mind that it will need to be a player capable of scoring in the Championship and willing to be 3rd choice?

Would need to be a young one with promise rather than an established player tbh. No one wants another Danny Graham just for the sake of saying we have 3 players in the position.

We specifically don't want anyone wanting to be 3rd choice. I want someone who'd back themselves to break into the side above the players we already have.

Quoting how far we are of 6th! Thus is embarrassing, it really is.

We should be striving to be better at all times. Sit Still you go backwards.

As far as suggestions, I'm not going to give names so you can try to rip them to bits. What I will say is that they should be permanent signings, that the recruitment team are well paid to compile these names and that they've had 2 years to do so. Over to them in a month.

Considering we should hopefully have the squad mostly back to full strength by the end of December (pending any new injuries), what position(s) do we need to invest in?

Additionally who can we afford/need to offload?

In
1x young promising striker to play third string and learn from those ahead of him.

Out
Hume, Sohna and Spellman loan to a league one team
Dajaku loan out to a league one or another championship club assuming we get a young promising striker in

That’s it for me unless something special came up. I appreciate saying send spellman out on loan while saying we need to sign a young promising striker seems a bit contradicting but it’s clear Mowbray isn’t gonna give that lad a chance here, so he needs to get out somewhere else and get some goals to get himself in the bosses thinking.

Those three young lads have the potential to break into the first team but they really need minutes this season and it’s clear they won’t get them here.

Vents to prevent the condensation.
