What do we need in the January window?

Boredom

Central Defender
Considering we should hopefully have the squad mostly back to full strength by the end of December (pending any new injuries), what position(s) do we need to invest in?

Additionally who can we afford/need to offload?

In
1x young promising striker to play third string and learn from those ahead of him.

Out
Hume, Sohna and Spellman loan to a league one team
Dajaku loan out to a league one or another championship club assuming we get a young promising striker in

That’s it for me unless something special came up. I appreciate saying send spellman out on loan while saying we need to sign a young promising striker seems a bit contradicting but it’s clear Mowbray isn’t gonna give that lad a chance here, so he needs to get out somewhere else and get some goals to get himself in the bosses thinking.

Those three young lads have the potential to break into the first team but they really need minutes this season and it’s clear they won’t get them here.

Hume was excellent last game. Our only specialised RB.

In an ideal world, we'd keep Ross because it makes very little sense to sell in January, like we've done so many times in the past. I'd rather be sure of survival before selling.

So keep Ross and also add another forward, because I can see games where we will need two strikers and what we are missing is a speed demon poacher type, or nippy like Broadhead was.

Depending on injuries, we might be okay after that, however if Matete was to leave on loan I'd understand, though I do rate him. Do think there has to be a search for a younger, more dynamic version of Corey Evans, even if the search ends in the summer. We have plenty at centre mid for now.

Wingback/fullback has a question mark, but Gooch is back thankfully, Hume going out on loan with a return clause would be sensible. Huggins is returning, so really we look all set. Just loan out some of the 23's.

Sure I heard they want a keeper but we will see.

We currently have enough first team 'squad' players to field two teams, with a couple left over. We'll have to unload a couple if the likes of Michut and Bennete are to get any game time. Any January incomings must be quality improvements.

My view is that any first season in any higher league is a precarious one and good starts can often change to slides downwards so they shouldn't be scrimping.
Saying that the championship is definately weakening so there's also a real opportunity to overtake midtable with some smart additions.

Even if he stays, reoccurance during this season of Stewarts injury will have a highish probability in my opinion so we need a 3rd striker to avoid being short again.

Centre back position seems OK once they are fit again.
Theres always going to better right backs out there than a winger playing right back.
Wingers etc seem OK for this season, unless of course someone leaves.

Centre midfield can always be made better but it's how much it will cost to do it. I don't think Ba is as oven ready to replace Evans as we all thought so I'd do something there.

That won't happen Spellman did alright at Whitby next move most like is to Spenny/Darlo/Gateshead as a step up, people seem to forget, he stepped 8 levels of football signing for us. Massive ask to ask him to from Whitby bottom end of tier 7 to 3rd tier football

Sohna needs a loan move to senior games of football under his belt so he can have a career in the game.

Hume is most likely to go to L1/SPL possibly

Which of those can play up front? It's obvious where we need new players and which can go.
