I'll sum it up for you. As a Newcastle supporter, the Saudi funding is great for us in terms of improving the club. We will enjoy that, in the same way the the PSG and Man City fans are enjoying their ownership and where it's taken their clubs.

The human rights atrocities that Saudi Arabia commit are bad. I wish they'd pack it in and I condemn them. They're not being committed in support of my club though, and my club doesn't benefit from them in any way. If I stop supporting my club it will not force the Saudis to change their culture which has been set in its ways for quite a bit longer than they've owned our club. So not only do I not want to stop supporting Newcastle, it also wouldn't have any positive effect even if I did.

About the signings, again, I've never said they were disappointing or bad. Reasonable enough players for a lower league PL team. The point I was alluding is - was it worth it? All the Ashley shite, the 18-month courting of the Saudis, the nearly-year long defence of their actions and the constant deflections, all so you could sign f***ing Chris Wood and Nick Pope? Really?

But our protests were in line with other teams' protests. West Ham, Leeds, have had protests, Man Utd fans set up an entirely new football team because they didn't want to be owned by the Glazers, Arsenal, the list goes on. If I'm honest, I think that the way your club has been run was deserving of more of a reaction from your fans. Not saying you have to go out and punch a horse, but I can't remember seeing any banners, or organised walkouts, or boycotts.

I think there's a few things to unpack here.

Getting rid of Ashley is a good thing for this club, and pragmatic, sensible improvement is way, way better than scattergun recruitment.
Fans defending the Saudi regime are wrong to do it.
Sometimes it's tricky to separate legitimate concerns about that state owning a football club, from petty football rivalry. Take your man Exile for example, his twitter feed is him saying how awful the Saudis are but includes the last time Newcastle beat Sunderland in the same tweet. Now, is he actually enraged about the Saudis owning a football club, or does he just hate NUFC?
We have signed Chris Wood and Nick Pope, both are upgrades on what we had (Wood > Gayle, Pope > Dubravka), but we've also signed Bruno and Botman who are several levels above Shelvey and Lascelles.

And, given the power to reject the Saudi bid falls in the hands of Ashley, the PL, the FA, and the British Government, there's not much we can do about it.

To start with yes as it was at the point where for you lot it was anyone but Ashley but without investment I think the initial honeymoon period would have disappeared rapidly.

Investment and a good cup run are often used as reasons for wanting Ashley out.

They're now a legitimate PL club with aspirations of top half, a good manager, sound long term planning, a brand new stadium, brand new training ground, with a category 1 academy. They look every inch a progressive, ambitious top flight club.

Ignoring the fact overspending during the growth of the blossoming Premier League revenue years it's still impressive. It's something for us mackems to be jealous of but it's not as impressive as you're trying to make out and certainly not something you consistently did in prior seasons.

You simply reverted to type once the money stopped being thrown around when Hall bailed. Ashley came in without due
diligence and ended up throwing money he had into covering the deb and realising the mess the club was int. Money throwing has started again but it's not like Hall did the 90's as you're not breaking transfer records paying Mbappe £500k a week but rather buying Premier League plodders and unknowns who aren't proven Premier League. Enjoy it while you can as hopefully you end up in a worse situation than Everton due to lack of success and increased revenue.
