I mean objecting to Mike Ashley on football grounds is open to debate. I personally didn't think he was a terrible owner, I mean he wasn't brilliant either but certainly not as bad as they ever made out. We can't really comment on that, that's down to Mags themselves. Only they can really form their opinion on their owner.
What was laughable was that another thing was that that they seemed to question him on was his morality as a man. They had a go because he advertised his businesses at SJP. I mean that's standard really. It was done in a tacky way but ultimately many many owners use football clubs to advertise their own businesses. Wigan, Stoke, Leicester are a few that come instantly to mind. There will be other examples.
Then there was the issue of his working practices within Sports Direct. I remember there was a parliamentary select panel meeting (whatever they're called) where Newcastle MP Chi Onwurah and others were questioning and condemning his zero hours contracts and working practices within SD warehouses. Again, they were very very interested and critical of a legitimate and legal British businessman and the way he ran his business.
Flip this to when the Saudi state have taken them on.
They're linking the business already with NUFC and of course, their human rights record and crimes are far far worse than anything Mike Ashley has ever done or ever likely to do. So surely they'd be up in arms again right?
I haven't noticed any protests from Mags recently...funny that.
