WW3What kind of chaos would that cause?
It’ll be interesting to see if anything else comes out about the talks today, see if there’s any hope at all of compromise…it’s not looking hopefulAgreed Putin doesn't want just that. But that's where you'd expect a compromise might be possible. I hope there is a way to de-escalate peacefully.
should we (the west) refuse nations entry into nato on the grounds tht third parties may not like it? Particularly when those third parties are the ones the applicants feel under threat from
If they want to join we should let them in surely? (assuming they can pass the normal entry criteria).
Stability is good. Invading neighbouring countries because they are a bit weak is bad. Ask post-Putin Russia to join as well.
This is just whataboutary, nato expanding doesn’t justify this invasion neither does the wests appalling record of starting conflict.

Fuck me I hope that hasn't got any substance to it![]()
I can see it fine. I was in university studying politics and Russian language for part of that period. If you can't see the geopolitical implications of NATO from a Russian perspective I can't help you.
Look i'm no expert, but is that a good idea? They're clearly weak and on the back foot politically and economically now (maybe militarily too?). Does Europe seemingly humiliating them and attacking them really achieve anything? Sure, call for the end of the conflict, for peace etc. But we need to also leave some way (however hard it is) for Russia/ Putin to back down if they want/ need to. We only have to look at modern European history to see examples of that. Stamping their face into the ground will only tighten the Russian resolve.
Yes, yes. Yes, we know that. What’s your thoughts on the fact quite a lot of Russians thought he was doing a good job a while back?Kept the largest and most diverse country together by what means?
I’ll give you a clue… by oppressing those with opposing views through using methods ranging from incarceration to murder.
Much good. Such leadership.
Yes, as soon as we detected a launch we would retaliate and in return the Russians would etcBut would dropping it in the North Sea mean I’m going to die?
Now that isn’t a good headline. Not in the slightest. You must be logged on to see media items
And if they flee abroad there's always the GRU and plutonium or nerve agents.Kept the largest and most diverse country together by what means?

im guessing some way of cutting off none-russian gas & oil to europe\uk? pollution to the bordering counties... not a problem in hartlepool thankfully. What kind of chaos would that cause?
thats what i was more interested to know... seems random the way this bomb the door step of sunderland is thrown around by him, trying to figure out if its a real idea in russia or his mad theory.Felgenhauer is a nutter in the Strangelove/Gwythian Prins class. Mad as a f***ing hatter.
Do you think Russia will still once Ukraine to be neutral once they've occupied it?Russia want's Ukrainian neutrality had it taken this stance then arguably this conflict doesn't happen. It's also one of the conditions reported two days ago before the peace talks today.

Wanting to join NATO is one thing for the benefits, but don't be ignorant to the fact this is in line with American foreign policy and increasing the sphere of influence. It's suffocating Russia in a way and bringing more and more military closer and closer to its border. It's as if were neighbours and we share a fence and every six months I'm moving it 4 inches into your side.
Maybe so, but I can see a valid argument as to why this conflict has been brewing and inevitably started. That doesn't right it's right or just but the sheer hypocrisy of views is staggering.

Yup I'm proud and lucky to live in England, it's home and i generally feel pretty safe but this stuff is scaring me.it's horrific.
i think we sometimes forget how lucky we are to live where we do and enjoy all the trappings of a peaceful nation.
