Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Sky News just showed some satellite images of the Russian convoy on route to Kyiv and said the convoy is now 17 miles long. That can't be right can it ?
He just repeated it again saying that convoy was 17 miles away now and was only 3 miles long yesterday but now 17 miles long today (I think as I can't rewind Sky news)

Do the Ukrainians not have access to those planes with the missile cameras that can take out folks bucking goats (from distance, like those used in Afghanistan and that?). They'd be canny for that backed up Russian convoy.

Hmmm I'd love to see a source on this. That story reeks of wartime propaganda mind. Send them to prison sure, but shooting them? Surely we'd of seen families take to social media and actual names would be broadcast. If it is true and they had names of the shot soldiers it'd be a fantastic way to show how mad Putin is etc.

I agree with the sentiment though. None of the soldiers want to be there and that's why theyre seemingly surrendering/giving up so easily (outside of the elite squads who will fight to the death of course)
You think the families would be notified?

I doubt if even those killed in action have their family notified.

Genie in question, in this situation, what do you think is the likely outcome given the reality is a threat of nuclear war?
I expect Russia will end up with those Eastern parts of Ukraine where the population is most ethnically Russian. If the Russians continue with the rest, it's urban (proxy) warfare for years and Ukraine is a heap of rubble.

The difficulty for Europe and NATO is that Russia clearly had imperialist ambitions. They are a clear and present threat to everyone's safety. I see the 'lets hope Putin dies soon' strategy from earlier on. It's more of a hope than a strategy.

I think it's perfect. More disputation to their lives, the more people go hungry/ can't afford what they need, the more people we'll see on the streets night after night.
I’ve seen your posts on cricket, smb and pure football and never agree, but I agree to this the end of the world is here.

Are the Ukrainians bombing this three mile long convoy of military vehicles i keep reading about? Media making it sound like they are traveling in unopposed
Wonder what drone support is been given by Western countries if any

I've just put RT on online.

Didn't realise Virgin and Sky had removed it

God knows why the British presenter hasn't resigned. He doesn't even sound like he believes what he's saying.

Aye, I remember NATO invading those countries as if it were yesterday.
Aye, as countries have embraced democracy they have felt the need to come under the safety of the Nato organisation.
This invasion has proved them right to do so
And why might those countries have joined NATO? Might it have been collective security against… hm, Uganda?

They must have been afraid of the Ugandans invading their countries and imposing autocratic stooge governments on them for a half-century. Yeah.
I didn't see NATO countries turn up in the countries and shell the shit out of them and kill innocent people, so comparing the two is totally wrong.

If you can't see the geopolitical implications of NATO from a Russian perspective I can't help you. Are you all ignorant to the fact that countries have their own spheres of influence or is that exclusive to the West? Nato have been significantly strengthening their presence to the East since the war, as evident in that map. Russia isn't happy with this and that's been the rhetoric for a couple of decades now, yet it's continually crept East. Stop being will fully ignorant to this and understand what could happen if you continually poke a bear.

Any chance of a map of countries Russia has invaded since 1949?

Don't wind me up, I'm no Russian supporter are certainly not in favour of this conflict but don't act like the West, particular the US haven't a history riddled of conflicts that launched on greatly flakier or even damn right illegal justifications.

Isn't it bonkers that after the great wars we still have countries trying to invade others under outdated pretexts.

The human instinct to evolve and compete on a planet with finite resources only really ends with either a collective understanding that we need to co-exist collaboratively or else it's just a fight to be the last standing in what's left of the world.

Russia has no genuine reason to think NATO or the EU were planning on harming them, and the EU in itself has brought about a lasting peace and collaboration for the betterment of the continent.

It's just mad that countries continue to be run by people like Putin.

Hopefully he goes before it's too late and we can all refocus on the more important issues facing the world.
