He was certainly stinking the place out by the time Murray fired him.

I didn't think they were good appointments. The last time I thought we'd made a good one was Bob Stokoe, but even he lost his way. I was excited when we appointed Keane, just as I'd be horrified if we brought him back. My initial reaction to the great Paolo was shock but within forty-eight hours I was invigorated. In my opinion Di Canio is the only SAFC Manager who was sacked too early and I go back to Brown the first time. Mind Brown would never have been given the time he took to take us back up if he was around now. He wouldn't have chosen to leave us, he'd have been fired years before.

Roy keane did an absolutely outstanding job here

There’s no debating it

We were heading the same way as the Grayson season.

You’ve literally just forgotten

exactly he’s coached Republic of Ireland an international team ! And people are suggesting some of the shite on here
Didn’t do particularly well and history shows even excelling at international level, relatively speaking, doesn’t translate into success here.

Starting to convince myself the more I think about it. As long as he has mellowed a little bit and tempers expectations of league 1 footballers

It's easy to get carried away with nostalgia but on the flip side we were Keanes first job and he seems the type to learn from his mistakes.

I think most managers need to accept the DOF or they would never be hired so doubt if he genuinely wanted the job he'd turn it down on the basis of a DOF. We need a bounce - Keano could be the man to do it

He'd also get the crowd behind the team ( alongside Defoe ) . Could see us over the line then we can assess things for next season

He didn't do half as well at Ipswich after us (his only other managerial appointment). So he seemed to go backwards, rather than 'learning from mistakes'
