I’d be genuinely fuming if Keane gets the job. We’ve had this “philosophy” and “data driven” approach stuff pushed down our throats since the summer and we’ve clearly gone about our business in a certain way and signed players we probably wouldn’t have a year before. It feels to me that we’re sticking two fingers up to that to live in the past by re-appointing a manager who had some success with us fifteen years ago, someone who hasn’t worked as a manager in twelve years, has barely lasted a year in jobs as an assistant at club level since and doesn’t appear to “fit”. Can anyone honestly see Keane wanting to work with a Director of Football and wanting to work with a data driven approach to recruitment?

It’s a firm no from me. He’s not the right fit. We’ve got into the position we’re in under Johnson, sometimes in spite of him, but we’re in a pretty good position with a squad that is probably as good as any at this level and it feels as though we’re throwing that to the wayside to hope to replicate something years ago.

BTW what is the evidence that he 1. Is keen and 2. Is going to be interviewed. I see on social media that he is set for an interview. Any proof?

I would imagine our new way of doing things will be outlined to him, and his role clearly defined. He has said he wants to manage and not be involved with contracts etc, sounds like a decent fit. His last few roles have been as coach rather than manager anyway and his demand of top levels across the club would be invaluable.

Bastard. He was 33/1 a couple of days ago but couldn't get into my account (betfred or bet Victor or something) to get the bet on 🙃😩

That’s true. Although you do seem to provide consistently negative contributions, not that that’s a problem, just an observation :)
The club are making positive steps forward which I applaud but bringing in someone who hasn’t been touched by clubs in over a decade would be a negative. A forward thinking young coach with fresh ideas is needed

Eh?

Almost every manager in football gets sacked

Peter Reid got sacked. Aye he was shite
He was certainly stinking the place out by the time Murray fired him.
Aye that's true I suppose but we all thought O'Neil, Moyes were good appointments
I didn't think they were good appointments. The last time I thought we'd made a good one was Bob Stokoe, but even he lost his way. I was excited when we appointed Keane, just as I'd be horrified if we brought him back. My initial reaction to the great Paolo was shock but within forty-eight hours I was invigorated. In my opinion Di Canio is the only SAFC Manager who was sacked too early and I go back to Brown the first time. Mind Brown would never have been given the time he took to take us back up if he was around now. He wouldn't have chosen to leave us, he'd have been fired years before.
