Wrestling - Part 3

It was great up until Goldberg burying him in the sands of Saudi Arabia he could never come back from that, like many talent who are there weekly getting beat by a guy who’s there once every six months, Bray always had good characters the problem was creative ruined him before he even got started with the Fiend.
This is a big reason why I shit on weekly wwe tv they release the people who can create good story’s and wrestle (if given the chance) and bring back part timers like Goldberg, Cena (to a lesser extent), f***ing Eva Marie it’s terrible.
Is still don't think Lesnar did either. but that was lauded by a lot of people

Nice to see that the SMB wrestling thread has a new heel. Saint Jude will fight for WWE’s reign of terror and crush AEW!!!

He’s not. WWE are such a global franchise, they’ll never have competition

Maybe not in terms of financial clout - I mean comparing the financial might of the WWE to AEW is like comparing Man City to say maybe Leicester City. Both are financially very well off but Man City have vastly more I think.

But where AEW is stronger is as I say that blend of top talent in their prime and up and comers which they (AEW) are at least making into stars.

The WWE's global franchise does seem based is their illustrious history as much as their money and that is what appeals to older fans. Way back before the likes of Randy Savage we had the CWC/WWWF legends like Lou Thez, Buddy Rogers and Bruno Sammartino. The names that no other company in the US can boast.

Goldberg v Lesnar had a purpose behind it.

Goldberg v The Fiend was just a flat out Saudi money grab and will probably be forever be billed as the worst booked match of all time.

Rollins v Fiend HIAC is a distant 2nd. The no-result just after him annihilating Cena achieved absolutely nothing.

Was watching dark side of the ring this weekend and it really reminded me how well thought out and slow build the storylines we’re back then. These days WWE abandon a storyline half way through and daft shite like that.

FYI the collision in korea episode from season 3 is great, I never knew anything about it.

Back in the day it was 4 ppvs a year and limited access to the product. So they could build up things

now it’s 24/7 and people want new content constantly.

Very true. Not sure how much of a myth it is that people want more content though. Even back in the day I wouldn’t have tuned in for Sunday night heat.

I know everyones saying about Wyatt but I’ve never enjoyed his matches going back to when he first broke onto the scene. I always found him and Rowan to be poor. Saved himself with the fiend stuff but this has been coming for a while.

He’ll go to AEW and won’t look like he’s on the level of some of the guys over there but he’ll be well paid. Good luck to him.

What was the purpose to it? To have a rematch 6 months later and sell a video game potentially? All that heat Lesnar had, it left him and went nowhere. Imagine if they let Strowman destroy him like that at the time, they would have gave that heat to him and made him a bigger star than he ever was.

They abandoned storylines back then too.

Check mate
Class argument asking me to recall 25 years ago. You enjoy the perfect years in the past and stop criticising today or just stop f***ing watching it
The obvious one is GTV (bit like the hacker thing they dropped recently as well😂) basically wrestlers were being spied on with secret cameras, etc but it went no where because Golddust was meant to be the culprit but left before the video packages finished😂
JR heel turn another that was scrapped

It was a joke mate, that was the joke, I wasn’t expecting you to recall a 25 year old storyline

Aye to bury Lesnar ;). Seriously if they wanted to tell the story of the complacent Lesnar they didn't show it in the weeks building up to the Survivor Series. They didn't even bother to protect him he lost clean as a whistle in under 2 minutes . The beauty about professional Wrestling is that you can protect people.

The Ciampa / Gargano rivalry on NXT was the template on how to build feuds and storylines. They took their time, restricted the number of fights between them, and gave it a little twist along the way.

They could easily have done something similar with Bray Wyatt as he had the following and type of character to build it up on Smackdown or Raw.
