Mumba, Waghorn, Henderson, Pickford, Honeyman. Just for a start. Our Academy gets slated a lot but it's produced some good professional footballers. The fact that they've moved on or haven't been utilised at this club says more about SAFC than it does the players.
Also got someone like Yankov who is playing regularly in Europe and is a full international, not really the club's fault he left though.

Not disagreeing with you mate. Just saying not many of those met the standard required at the time.

Just my opinion but I still feel and the most prominent of these because of the 2 very serious injuries he sustained during his time here, John Egan, could have been given an extra year or 18 months or so to develop. They weren't ever given the opportunities to prove consistently whether they were good enough or not. It's a case of the club being in constant, stay up, bring fresh legs in, start well, drop off, repeat cycle that we had for so long. Egan and Hourihane are probably the 2 most highlighted cases due to where they are now. To take one, just for example, Waghorn was given his debut under Keane. Yes, he was maybe a bit rough around the edges but could he have improved significantly with game time? His career suggest so.

Yep, I see he has signed that pro contract with Ludogorets. Good luck to the lad, he seemed a nice kid.

TBF I thought the but googled it and, although they haven’t unearthed many Downings or Johnsons recently, they do have a few in their first team. Dael Fry is 23 and has played over 100 Championship games, Marcus Tavernier is 21 with 70-odd games, Coulson (22) and Spence (20) have played about 35 games as well.

Have a young centre back that'll make the premier in a couple of years. Gibson and probably a couple more, its some going to be fair to them.

Nathan Wood, Nick Hood and despite some criticism over the last few months and the fact that I know him very well and so I am slightly biased, Lewis Wing will play in the Premier Leauge!

Agree with a lot of what you say bit of digging into Egan's background would have been indicative IMO but I'm just a layman who played at a fairly low level for 20 years so my opinion won't carry much weight I'm afraid.

We rang him up to try and get him to sign, after he had already signed for Boro.

Indeed. We knew about him before Boro even had spoke to him. I know this for a fact because I was there the night he was recommended to a certain member of staff who is still part of the club.

and schwarz is qualified for neither of them

Not a genius but history of being reasonably successful

since these idiots took over us most of staff have left the academy

no idea why we sacked McNamee for bain’s Mate
You don’t need to be qualified to be a good director of football it’s basically a glorified scout you just have to have a good eye for a player
