Lot of hard graft for cheap placka trophies, but was good fun at the time and the lads in the gyms i went to were all great lads.

Yeah undoubtedly. It's part of my job so I have to. Would reconsider at this point if purely for recreation.
 
Gyms have their place. High energy work-outs in short space of time.

Disagree with the point about walking not being good exercise though. I started walking to work and back each day. Took the stairs instead of lifts and escalators when out and about. After a few weeks I noticed the weight going down.

Mate of mine was in West Ham’s Academy with Ferdinand and Lampard. He knacked his ACL and it couldn’t be fixed. He was traumatised. Can’t even play 5-A-Side with his mates. So instead of going for a run every other day he walks the 4 mile circuit along the disused railway line. (I run it with the dog about once per month but I’m trying to get to every other day.) The weight stays off him when he’s doing the walking and starts coming back if he stops.
 
Cut out the shit and exercise more.

I think most people should do a bit of resistance training. Providing you do it properly it's linked with reduced risks of accidents from falling and such when you're older, osteopetrosis, diabetes and cancer etc. Although what you're saying is definitely the approach more of the general public need to take
 
After a lot of arm twisting, I got a heart rate monitor a few months ago.
Been a real eye opener.
I thought I was pushing myself and it turned out I really wasn’t.....

People were fit as lops 40 years ago though before gyms and shite food appeared . They have their uses but it's a religion to many

It sounds a bit like the way the Ropery was down Roker Avenue but I never knew anyone who was insane enough to risk venturing in.
 
Whats the crack with saunas, I know they eventually opened after last lockdown?

Been today but shite without that as a nice ‘reward’ afterwards.
 
Back in the house after a good session, hot shower and sitting down for bait. Feel better now than i have at any point in the last 4 weeks, Gyms are good.
