Patio Costs

Goodness me, last time I seen someone do that it was Charlie Dimmock, it would fall out within a couple of months.

Sandstone is porous like, it will get algae growth quicker than other paving, I don’t know anything about the sealant but the lad whose used it seems happy.
Cheers. Marshalls have a video were they claim their sandstone is from a specific region and not as porous. I'd still use that product recommended though!

Can anyone recommend any garden landscape companies in the Sunderland / Durham area? Looking to get a patio at the back of the garden and a few other bits and pieces.

I’ve said, grout gun wet muck - even colored - like brickwork mortar, will never come out if it’s just a patio (you only walk on it), but I doubt you’ll get anyone to do it like that. Jet wash will damage most joints eventually.

If the paving is moving (rocking) even slightly the jointing will come out full sand/cement bed as @Gillythedilf recommends and stay off it until it sets properly.

I was quoted a rough price 2 weeks ago, standard flags 450mm x 450mm £45 a square metre, Indian sandstone £80 a square metre. That included all materials and labour.
dinit gan for the small flagstones or the sand stone ones... Concrete Grey 600mm x 600mm x 50 mm are the best and dont crack or break. Gleeson's charged my lad £240 for 30 meters squared. granted new house but if you paid around 600-800 you'll not go far wrong.

I will get old fashioned beefy slabs next time.

Edit: can they be cut into curved shapes?

We got rid of ours last year and got a new one laid. Looked into a concrete slab instead of flags, but just got new flags and got rid of the gravel.
An area of 40m2 we had several quotes ranging from 500 quid to 3k. The 500 quid lad from the pub didn't seem too trustworthy and didn't even measure anything, he just looked at it. Got it done for 2k from a bloke who my dad knows who came out of retirement to do it. Most were around 2-2300

That's about 170 flags
how long did he take? i have a mate who is 64, and as long as the ground is not too bad/bumpy will lay 200 slabs in a day. Strongest bloke who i have ever known. only £180 a day as well in Tunbridge Wells !

I've managed to do that..angle grinder came in handy
You tried liquid weather on new slabs?
Some thing similar i've used on roof before ...Yoghut.. but it dosen''t work half as well on paving slabs but funnily enough it does on block paving... All of the slabs we have are old, hence trying to keep like for like.. New ones stand out like a beacon

not on facebook or twitter mate. i couldn't stand the hassle people seem to get.
Keep an eye out on gumtree, they often give them away. Are they to match in size wise - as in .600 x .600 or imperial 2ft x 2ft ?
2x2's the ones they are lifting from pavements before putting black top down.. they are like rocky horses
