One out one in is how its going to be

Well Ross has said the squad is not too top heavy. He's implied that he is getting the one in/one out direction from above, so speculating that he wants a smaller squad seems wide of the mark.

I have no objection to free transfers, but we need to weaken our competitors and bully our way out of this as we have done with Willis. It's no good just taking players who other clubs have let go or aren't breaking the bank to keep.

He's actually said that though.

No you mean its finally official we're skint. Can't be I heard it on here from the happy clappers.

We went all in last season and failed.

“100 points”
Hope its just jabber to keep the prices down of transfers!..if not i cannot see us getting anywhere near 100 points this season and if were in such a fine financial state why are the three amigos being so tight fisted.....

31/5 Stewart Donald “It’s about getting ourselves into a position where we are a team that got 85 points last season to a team that gets 100 points next season."

25/6 Stewart Donald "we probably need around 6/8 new players this season"

18/7 Jack Ross “I spoke couple of weeks ago about it being a case of one out, one in, and that’s really where we are”
We'll get nowhere near 100 points
Not with the squad as it is at the moment .........top six at best and that will be a struggle!I think Ross will continue where he left off last season and will be gone by december and the three amigos will use that as an excuse for another rubbish season!

Nah mate I've read it on here Ross is going to have an epiphany this close season and realise what he didn't release last season, that his tactics are woeful...............

[snip]Could be a bluff like but I get the feeling Ross is telling it how it is.

This is the first thing I thought, like. It is something we've heard discussed before, a number of years ago when we were in the Premier League... if you've got money to spend, the last thing you want to do is announce it to the world, or everyone will raise their prices for you. Tell everyone you're working on a regular League 1 budget and we might actually get the players we want for the proper price instead of an "Oh, it's SAFC, they're loaded!" price.

Read the article about FFP and we need to limit our wage bill. Hence Cattermole, Love and likely a few others moved on. According to reports even McGeady took a pay cut to stay. Maybe instead of writing off the season after a glorious victory at Shields and the 0-0 against Benfica reserves, we should actually let the owners and manager finish the pre season. Some people on here are behaving like those crest fallen heartbroken souls up the road

Manager as it stands still has a better squad than 90% of the division

Agreed with this, I know everyone wants to bring in new faces and ship out some of the old guard, but this squad as it stands should bank automatic promotion, it’s Ross 2nd season in charge and if it doesn’t happen this year it’s down to the manager. There isn’t a need for wholesale changes.

I will be cassandra's voice why do you think the squad is automatic promotion material.

So we need to move Loovens on. And who replaces Cattermole?
6 players for Catts wages. Wasnt that the line which was being told?

Someone is being a little creative with the truth, I wonder who?

100% agree.

As to the squad, a one out one in policy will be fine as long as the ones coming in are better suited than the ones leaving. We don't need to sign 20 players, just 2 or 3 that can bring another dimension to the squad.

Thing is. We're going to shift Oviedo so that Hume is first choice when we've shown nothing from him? He'll have no competition unless we sign another LB but then we should have just kept Reece James

We've got to give a handful of kids a chance this season - Hume, Embleton, Kimpioka. Hume will start the season as first choice, and when Oviedo goes no doubt we'll sign a back up for him.

Hopefully, a benefit of retaining Ross will be that we end up with a more balanced squad. We've got a big squad with some serious deficiencies. At present we are suffering from too many buys in the past 12 months - so it puzzles me why people want more and more players in without getting shot of some first.

It was vital we shifted Cattermole and it’s now one in one out

Alot of people wants shot of Oviedo, one of the only bits of quality we and I bet it’s still one in one out when he leaves. A div 1 freebie to replace him

Hume looks raw last night and would weaken the side if he is a direct replacement for Oviedo
