I'm not as bullish as Brandon, we can still go calypso collapso. However, there is hope and above all interest in the next two days.
Very positive going forward for Durham this. Think a lot of the batting problems have been mental ones, and compounded issues - openers being shit exposes middle order which makes them look shit, etc., but a good run of positive batting displays, regardless of the outcome of the match, will go a long way to improving a lot of the players we have
Completely agree on Bancroft and Lees. Two good batsmen is not enough to build a good team - hopeful talk of promotion either this year or next (!) is far away from where we are.I wouldn’t go that far marra, I still expect us to be all out before Lunch.
But from here, we absolutely SHOULD post something competitive.
I think it comes down quite simply to Lees and Bancroft. They are far and away our best two batsmen. The ‘soft underbelly’ of our batting still exists massively from 3 to 7 and we are still capable of being bowled all out for under 300 tomorrow truth be told.
Much of what we’ve seen in recent weeks in terms of ‘turning the corner’ has either been runs from Bancroft or Lees (with a notable mention towards the grittiness of Eckersley).
Harte, Burnham and Clark need to step it up big time, hopefully tomorrow we see that from them. If not, I think the pack will need shuffling again for the visit of Worcestershire.

Undoubtedly, but I think a solid top order gives the middle order a better chance. Certainly better for Harte and Burnham to be coming in at 200-2 against the old ball than 0-2 against the new ball.
What do we need here you reckon?
238-1 lead is 143. Partnership for the second wicket is worth 51 - with Rimmington 27* the dominant partner. Lees is 90*.
