Working On A Dream wasn't....

Well you can, but I get what you're saying overall.

His 1994 Greatest Hits is decent enough, though could be better with a bit more focus on his earlier works instead of the then recent additions.

Say a 16 song E Street retrospective...

Born To Run
Thunder Road
Badlands
Promised Land
Darkness On The Edge of Town
The River
Hungry Heart
Atlantic City
Born In The USA
Dancing In The Dark
Glory Days
The Rising
Waiting On A Sunny Day
Living In The Future
Radio Nowhere
Wrecking Ball

That would make for a canny CD.

Well if I don't hear BTR or DITD again I would be happy.
My 16 song retrospective would be:

We take care of our own
Incident on 57th street
Rosalita
Backstreets
Promised Land
Jungleland
Prove it all night
Downbound train
Tougher than the rest
I'm goin' down
Cadillac Ranch
Thunder Road
Racing in the street
Just like fire would
Badlands
American Land

All live from the archive releases.

 Madness.

We Take Care Of Our Own is one of his weaker efforts I think.

I think it’s superb.

Hitch hikin, chasin wild horse, sundown, Stones are all solid 10/10.

Only track that in my opinion is a bit weak is sleepy joes cafe.

Hmmm, I dinnar. I think it's a bit over-reaching. He's gotten this crackers idea in his head to do this "Southern California Pop" record and it's just not him. I just think it's a bit wide of the mark. Then again, he cites the likes of Bacharach and Glen Campbell as inspiration, whereas I was maybe expecting more CYNY, Beach Boys, Joni, or the Eagles.

I'm fairly sure that's Soozie Tyrell on there and I think maybe he should have used her less, and gotten Nils in to play more pedal steel.

I think the record finishes better than it starts. I'll give it another whirl like but it's not exactly grabbing is.

I’m a fan of melodic, crooning, retro pop ( if that’s what you can call it ) so I was always destined to love it.
I agree the back end is the best. I love it.
Yeah Soozie is on there as is original E street members such as David Sancious.
I’m now really curious / buzzing to see what he does with forthcoming E street band album next year and tour.

Playing the SOL again would be perfect...
