All the bar workers and waiters are currently being screwed , earning about 300 EU a month net. Tip them wellIf you want a cheap stay in one of the most expensive and beautiful cities in the world, go to Venice. The trick is to fly to Padua, stay in a cheep hotel of bnb there and get the train in every day. It's dirt cheap and you get the best of both worlds.
Same goes with Florence and Pisa. But in Tuscany you can stay within 30 mins if the city in the Tuscan countryside in an agriturismo (working farm/ hotel) for next to nothing. They are usually vinyards. The one I was married in had wine at one euro a glass and grappa at a similar price.
Looking for a cheap week away in September, somewhere warm, pretty well priced and with enough bars/restaurants without it being too lively.
Any SMB'ers willing to recommend destinations and places to book?
Cheers.
Return flights to palma are 120quid in factory fortnight, get an air bnb and you'll get a week away for the 2 of you for less than 600quid
I am away for the first week from Saturday 20 July to Saturday 27 July but from the Sunday 29 July to Saturday 3 August I am ok. The 4th is the last day but I start back on night shift so I am going to need to be back by the 3rd.
But I would love to know where did you saw that kind of stuff?
Ryanair website for flights, Air BnB website for digs
CORR: Sunday 28 July I am free not of course July 29.
Great. I will check it out.
Don't we have websites where you can sort of shop for holidays? I see it all the time advertised on telly. Is it better to go on the plane companies website then?
If you want to take a bit of effort out of it & go down the package holiday route, Jet2 are reasonably priced.
Btw Ryanair looks cheap then theyll try & rip you off at every opportunity.
What's a package holiday?
Jet2 is exactly the sort of thing I was on about. They don't fly planes as well as offer holidays. They just offer holidays.
Jet2 do flight only or package deals
But what is a package holiday or package deal?
I am not familiar with it. I used to watch "Wish You Were Here" and "Holiday" years ago and watch documentaries like "Airline" but other than that I have no experience or knowledge of foreign holidays.

You are gonna have a lot to answer for......unleashing SBC abroad.Flight, transfer, hotel
Flight, transfer, hotel
Is that all? What if I want something to eat on the plane is the price of the sandwiches on a plane included in the package deal? And what if I wanted to get a taxi to the hotel. Is that included too?

best just gan to Butlins marra or have a day out at Sunny South Shields. You can simulate a cruise on the boating Lake and the Rocky Mountaineer on the little train that runs round itIs that all? Went there for a holiday years ago and enjoyed it there’s a canny temple on the island as well as other archaeological sites and as you say other things in Athens like the marble stadium and the AcropolisHalkidiki.
Mainland Greece, left hand prominontary below Thessaloniki. Dirt cheap in comparison with the islands plus you can pop up to see Salonica match if they’re at home. Gets a bit lively if they’re playing an Athens club mind.
Aegina.
Greek island 16km from Athens. Fly to Athens then get tube to the port then 30 mins on a dolphin or 45 on a ferry. Very handy to pop back ower to Athens for the sites and/or a match featuring one of the umpteen Athens teams. Olympiakos play in rednwhite stripes, just make sure there’s a ferry scheduled to get you back.
f***ing hell man - you have to buy your bait on the plane. Transfer is usually coach transfer to the hotel - if you want a taxi its extra
