I'll be looking to rent a house there next summer. You the owner by any chance? Love the algarve but never been to carvoeiro

Anywhere cheap here in the UK? And preferably short?

Since me and my girlfriend can't go abroad this year we are setting our sights a little lower than France. Not as expensive (which apparently foreign holidays are) and also doesn't last long which rules out foreign holidays anyway.

She and I (I DO have the cash but when I offered she said no way. A holiday to France for about a week apparently can cost thousands if you factor everything) have neither the time nor the money to go abroad and for long. Everyone is saying you can go to Crete for x but whilst it is good for the money situation it requires you to be there at least a week and time situation is bad.

I would like to fly to a place here in the UK but without the need for a passport as I can't get one yet as all notion of a foreign holiday can be put off till next year at least. But flying is not vital.

If you're not restricted to school holidays, France shouldnt be that expensive if you go in June or September. If you're doing UK you might as well drive as you'd only need to pay extra on taxis / car hire to get to/from airport & visiting attractions.
What sort of holiday you after anyway?
If relaxing & walks then theres places like lakes / costwolds / yorks dales / scotland etc
Beach type place there's Cornwall & Devon.
History - plenty of ye olde cathedral cities
City break - London / Edinburgh / Manchester etc

I have 0 days holiday entitlement from Unipres as they only allow 3 floating days and I have taken them this year. We have 28 but minus all shutdowns and bank holidays we are left wìth just 3 and only when there is a longer holiday like the Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday or the Summer Shutdown in the last week of July and first week of August.

So if it can coincide with them times some of those breaks sound good.

How vital is a posh hotel in your decision? If you are unconcerned about bells and whistles then take a look at the Premier Inn type of hotel. I did a week in Edinburgh for two people for under £400, in October, including breakfast and evening meal, as it was dark at five and I didn’t want to roam the streets after being on my feet all day.

I had a similar Monday to Friday deal in the Lakes at Whitehaven for around £200. Even with the cost of petrol you couldn’t really do it for less even if you took your own tent!

Return flights to palma are 120quid in factory fortnight, get an air bnb and you'll get a week away for the 2 of you for less than 600quid
