Steve Clarke’s post match interview

I still dislike the club and a large section of their fans. The word I use is neither sectarian or bigoted. No different to us referring to the mags as a scum or filth.

But yes using profanity and saying the rest does show myself up. Doesn't devalue the point. I truly believe it can get better up there. Sadly I don't think it will.

Doberman is genuinely an example of your average rangers fan. Just need to follow him on Twitter to see that.

if sectarianism was taken seriously on both sides then I might change my opinion but as it stands sectarianism is just another stick to beat Rangers with. No-ones really arsed until Rangers fans use the "F" word.

did you hear Andy Walker on Sunday? Boyd's stood there taking a barrage of coins whilst being called a fat orange bastard and Walker laughed & suggested he'll be used to it and will laugh it off.

clearly sectarianism is just banter so what's the issue?

1) Everywhere Rangers/Celtic go, we get the shouts of orange bastard/fenian bastard. Whether that's Rugby park at Kilmarnock or Fir Park in Motherwell. This is NOT an issue exclusive to Rangers/Celtic. Naturally it's all our fault though.

2) Steve Clarke speaks of his relief of moving to Chelsea. Chelsea? f***ing Chelsea? That'll be the same Chelsea famous for it's racist element within it's fan base. Obviously that doesn't matter to Steve Clarke though because it's not Rangers.

3) Steve Clarke mentioned Rangers' promise in the summer that this sort of thing had been eradicated in the West of Scotland when we approached him for the manager's job. When did this conversation happen Steve? You told us all in the summer that you hadn't spoken to Rangers and there was no approach? Liar.

4) Steve Clarke insisted that we focus on the football on Sunday after Celtic had abused Kris Boyd (fat orange bastard). It was all banter according to Andy Walker from Sky Sports. Fun & games. Fast forward a few days, his side get humped off Rangers and he's bawling his eyes out & demanding action, the BBC are kicking up a fuss, Stan Collymore is going nuts on Talksport & no-one wants to talk about the football. What happened to focusing on the football Steve? Changed your tune haven't you? Sure it's nothing to do with the fact Rangers have just scored 5 with the devil Morelos scoring 4. Surely you're not trying to deflect attention are ya?

Steve Clarke is a bitter, arrogant, gobshite arsehole of a man who seemingly has selective anger when it comes to the issue of sectarianism. Either speak up for all or don't bother.
Whataboutism...

You are part of the problem

are any of my points wrong?

Sectarianism isn't a problem. It's just banter. Andy Walker (formerly of Celtic) told me so.

Can we just focus on the football please? Rangers won 5-0.

With my mam being from Glasgow & eldest brother living up there I'm pleased Clarke is speaking out on this issue.

Brought up catholic & my mothers side of the family Celtic fans I could ended up following them.

Pleased to have SAFC as my only team and can't stand either of the old firm clubs as think both sets of fans act like arseholes.

There are too many on both sides who still use football as a vechical to promote their twisted views & religious bigatory which has no place in today's world.

Thankfully they are both stuck north of the border playing in a backwater league.

The thread is about the sectarian abuse the fella received and hes right. The vast majority south of the border find it incomprehensible. Its absolutely vile, but as soon as the issue is raised people like yourself point to the other side and often blame the victim.

Steve Clarke didn't find it incomprehensible on Sunday.

why?

Happy to have sympathy with the "victim" when you can assure me that "the victim" has an issue with all sectarian chants and not just the chants aimed at him.

until then. Can we focus on the football please? It's what Steve Clarke would want (apparently).

Old saying of "two wrongs don't make a right" springs to mind.

there weren't two wrongs though. The only wrong was last night. Sunday's episode was banter that Boyd would have loved according to Sky Sports.

Not sure what the incident was on Sunday as don't watch a lot of Scottish football, so can't comment.

The point being why did Gerrard need to mention the other incident as opposed to just condemning the idiots chanting stuff at Clarke?

If this type of stuff was going on at SAFC I'd want it stamped out without really giving a toss what was going elsewhere.

Embarrassing that fans of either club continue to defend the behaviour of their fans

Remember how that lad who done the monkey gesture at Lukaku a few seasons ago was rightfully given tons of shit and stick on here (he wasn't a poster just general outpouring of embarrassment), it's f***ing shameful that they reckon its okay, weirdos, if I was in Glasgow I'd much rather support Partick, Queens Park, or even St Mirren.

Genuinely feel sorry for young lads and lasses raised to believe that it's okay to gan on the way Celtic/Rangers supporters do, they grow up reckoning there's no better, such a shame.

if you don't know what the incident on Sunday was how can you claim that Gerrard shouldn't be mentioning it?

Kris Boyd was pelted with coins. One of them hit him. The Celtic supporters then started chanting "fat orange bastard" at him. Andy Walker (former Celtic player) immediately claimed that Boyd would be loving it, he's heard it all before etc on Sky's commentary. Steve Clarke refused to dragged into the debate afterwards insisting we focus on the football.

One chant aimed at Steve Clarke last night & here he is demanding national reform, stating the West of Scotland is poisonous whilst Andy Walker is on Sky telling the World it's out of order.

I have no sympathies with victims who can only bring themselves to criticise when it suits.

and when Rangers/Celtic play any of those teams we're subjected to shouts of orange/fenian bastards.

There you go again pointing the finger, blaming the victim

You are part of the problem. And the problem is absolutely rank.

Gers boss asks why Steve Clarke didn't highlight Kris Boyd Celtic bigotry abuse

Steven Gerrard has insisted Rangers want sectarian chanting driven out of Ibrox.

But he has questioned why Steve Clarke didn’t highlight the abuse directed at Kris Boyd by Celtic fans
He was wrong not to highlight the abuse Kris Boyd received but that doesn't change the facts. Rangers fans are bigots just like Celtic fans. This whole thread highlights the double standards of the Old Firm and their mind set.
