Is a world without racism possible?

Why does a white person get so offended on a black persons behalf if they hear a them called a name based on their colour?
I never see a black persons get offended on a white persons behalf if it’s vice versa.
Nobody should ever be held back or not given fair opportunities based on colour and I don’t believe that’s a problem anymore. Being called a name though? Think it’s time to get over it personally.

I have an issue with it, as it's vile. However I will say that I detest people seeking racism out of comments there is none, on behalf of other people.

Also plenty of black people would take issue with other people making any racist remarks towards white people. I've had to stop mates beating people up over making daft comments about me being white, despite it not particularly bothering me.

Why is it vile though? I’m not saying it’s nice as no name calling is but it’s just a name.
In the main if a black person makes a racist remark it’s a non story much like Joshua and Bernard Hopkins to calzaghe. If a Tyson Fury makes same remark it’s headline news. I find that very poor.

Not really. Children will be called all kinds of names growing up, its part of life. Not saying it’s right or nice but it will always happen. There’s nothing wrong with being any colour it is what it is much like being overweight, ginger, ugly, have a lisp etc.
Just an observation, but you do seem to be equating a hell of a lot of negative attributes there mind. Any positive ones to throw in the mix?

Because many people are still heavily discriminated against based upon their race. It's something that has seen appalling stuff happen, whilst many families still carry the slave names from those times.

I understand your point, as racism towards me I've largely just laughed off, but me nor my family have been discriminated against as a result of our race.

Discrimination based on race is shocking and it’s undeniable it’s happened in the past but i don’t see it now. Nothing will ever be perfect but I’d say a lot of the stats that indicate it happens will be a case of the race card being used as an excuse for why they may not have got on.
Slavery is in the long distant past now but it seems some get themselves all apologetic for things that happened long before they were even born, I’m not going to apologise for that and nor should anyone else. It was wrong but it’s in the past now.
You’re an intelligent bloke and will be fully aware of the North African slave trade that labelled white women and children as ‘white gold’. It’s not just black people who have been affected by it historically.

How can you abuse people of colour using positive attributes?

You have to keep in mind that @Mrjardine thinks racial abuse is ok, doesn't fit his definition of 'real racism'.

I'm not suggesting you apologise for it, or even tip toe around what you say. But my point is that due to various reasons, what I, or you might just be able to dismiss as a minor insult, some people can't.

That can go for anything though not just colour. Call one person fat and it’ll bounce off them but another would take it to heart.
All I’m saying is that there’s too much made of calling someone based on colour of skin over lots of other personal insults.

You can not be serious in trying to find equivalence between insulting somebody for being fat and being a certain skin colour?

Why not? Do you not think people will get less opportunities based on how they look aesthetically? What’s the difference with that and lack of opportunities based on skin colour? Both are wrong.
I’m aware it all comes down to the old slavery angle which was lifetimes ago and ancient history. White people have been enslaved to North Africans in the distant past as well but it’s been and gone and people need to move on.
I only speak in my own behalf and I can genuinely say I couldn’t care less if I hear someone call someone a black whatever be it at the match or on the tv for example. Same would go if someone’s white as well
There will be plenty who agree with me but don’t like to say for fear of being branded racist.

I’m not racist I couldn’t care less about skin colour but I hate the hypocrisy in regards to race. I gebuinely see no difference in hearing someone called ugly to being called black whatever. Far too much is made of race and I feel all non whites are put on a pedestal when it comes to colour. It’s just name calling at end of day. If someone isn’t getting opportunities based on they’d race then it’s a problem, if it’s just being called a name then get over it imo.
Are you a minority? Have you ever felt someone call you a derogatory name because of your race in so much hatred it cuts you deep? Have you ever been denied service somewhere because of the color of your race? Have you ever been told to go back to "your" country even though you weren't born there?

I am guessing not. Being called fat is one thing. Being singled out and called out a derogatory name because of your race is completely different. But you wouldn't know that because you have never experienced it.

And, I'm half Black half Filipino in case you're wondering...

I simply can't debate with somebody who is comparing the result of a lifestyle choice with somebody's skin colour.

I was bullied for being ginger when I was a youngen and it scarred me for life so I can understand how it must feel to be called awful names because of ones colour. People can be right evil sods.

Unless you are of a certain age none of that will have happened to you either. Not saying things like that haven’t happened in past but thankfully those times are gone so get rid of the chip on shoulder and move on.
