Having thought a bit more about this, and in context of Graves outrageous comments about kids not being interested in cricket, do you think Buttler has been picked off the back of the IPL, to attempt to stir public interest in test cricket? A bit foil hatted but anything's possible with the ECB.

It is and can totally see your argument, however to me he strikes me as a big game player with a big game mentality who is not fazed at all by pressure which is not always the case for international players.
When somebody has soo much talent that he does it's worth giving him more chances than see other players with less talent.
It may not work out, he may not have the technique for test cricket, but it's too early imo, to disgard him as a player as he has more natural talent as a cricketer than most of the current team.
And I see that argument. But he has played 18 tests already.

Every player is different, but if a player values playing for England in Test cricket then all things (wages) being equal - its more important to play County Championship cricket in April and May than IPL isn't it? That's just one reason why it isn't a no brainer, but there are many others.
