How cold is your house at night

We have a door curtain. Got it made with the extra thick thermal interlining too.

Thermal curtains coming for the lounge and main dining room too; it’s hopefully gonna warm things up a bit.
I could do with some thick curtains for the front and back doors, and also my sitting room to try and deal with the worst of the draughts tbh .

Is under floor heating more efficient ?
Seems a waste of energy to me, heating the ground up as well as the house.

I have water underfloor heating downstairs.. It's lovely... More of an ambient heat that direct heat. Problem I have is half the floors are wood and the heat doesn't come through as well as wood is shit conductor. In kitchen and side I have Amtico and it works so much better. It's great with tiles too

My thermostat is always set to 17. I’ve knocked it up to 18 these last couple of weeks, but once it hits 19 I find it uncomfortable. Dunno how people can stand having it set in the 20s.

New build. Insulated to fuck. Heating knocks off about half 8 and a hoy a hoody on for last hr before bed.

Got fluffy fleece bedsheets anarl. Which are the greatest invention ever.

Likewise, when I go into some of these overheated office buildings, I cannot wait to get back outside again.
Surely it can’t be healthy when you have at some stage to adjust to outside temperatures.

For much the same reason I’m not keen on aircon in the house in Spain.
It’s a bugger going outside after that and having to adjust to 35 or 40c.

Oh our heating has been on 24/7 lately. I hate the idea of having to layer up in your own house, if we can comfortably afford to pay the bill then we will be comfortably warm all winter. Nothing worse than not wanting to get out of bed because your house is freezing, especially for young uns getting up for school.

Same goes for heating when you’re in bed. You’re never cold under a quilt, so it’s just a waste of money.

I stick it on for an hour before getting up and that does the job. Dunno what the problem with layering up is though. I’m either wearing clothes or a sturdy dressing gown.

Unless you're dead
Then you wouldn’t be bothered about the temp would you?

I'm strictly a vest top and pyjama bottoms gal. Hate wearing big jumpers etc. If you can't be warm and comfortable in your own house then where can you be. Although my idea of being comfortable is obviously subjective.

Use to have ice on the inside of the windows when we was younger. Was glad when the double glazing went in, then found it too warm, so on cold nights i use to open the window. These days, cold rooms for sleeping in, warm rooms for lounging around in. Will get to the new house next Monday, and I know my missus will have it on 100oC plus.

What we have established in this thread are is there is some right fancies amongst us. It's canny cold in mine but walk around bollick naked

Hoy the heating on 6-8 on a morning knocking off at 17 degrees and 4-7 on a night up to about 18 degrees and that does me. Still costs a fortune like, those people who have it on 24/7 must be pissing through money.

I have one gas fire and I'm just about to switch it on. Will take 5 minutes to heat the whole place up, then turn it down to it's lowest setting.

Heating is set to come on at 5am after going off at 10pm last night. It never came on this morning due to having an absolutely shite remote thermostat that keeps losing its connection with the receiver. It was only down to 16 when I got up at half 6 so must be quite well insulated. Got me fleece on and put new batteries in the stat. Me feet are like blocks of ice mind.
