Used to go to Shields early 90's, good night out, last time I went around 4 or 5 years ago it was like a ghost town.
I used to do the same in the mid 90s on a Saturday...always a canny night and a change from Sunderland but went back a few years ago and all the pubs were empty

Times have changed
Social media ruined pubbin n clubbbin, back in our day you had to physically go out to see your mates , half the population met their missus when down town I bet, there would be Qs on a sat night and both fri and Sunday were busy also (sun was class), also now the drink prices are nuts and loads of the pubs are shit, kids now go into town much later as it's too expensive , whereas when we go out we still go out early on, it will never be the same again IMO...
And neen of the young'uns break dance in the pubs and clubs now, giving free entertainment for all to see and enjoy.;)

Ha , use to be good laugh mate
Sunday nights were topper nights like. Were you there that night I karate chopped a round table in half in Gillespies after I caught it perfectly with my feet when coming out of a head spin and the lads went in uproar, parading it around like an FA Cup at Wembley?

I'm the same mate, I am no weekend millionaire, I am 25, university educated, work 9-5 in a full time career, yet stuck at home saving up and can't afford to do fuck all until I get paid next week

Money is tight so you have to get the most out of nights out and spending my hard earned cash in cooper rose is just no value for money.
It's a fiver for two bottles in Cooper Rose or £11 for a bottle of Prosecco! You're living at home.

It died the day ku club shut
Ku was empty the last few years. Everyone had moved on to the White Room and Pure by then.

Chester le Street around 10 years ago used to be a canny night out

Went a year or so ago, it was absolutely desperate, like a ghost town

Surely all the cool kats n kittens still gan down Hylton Rd on Friday neet? They did when I was living up there, pre 1983 like.
Twas:
Fri-Hylton Rd-Clubbing.
Sat-Town Centre-Clubbing. Once a month Newcastle then back for clubbing.
Sun-Town Centre.

Sunday was always the best neet.

Sunderland council dont help matters with their shit parking policies. If going for a meal out and taking the car I wouldnt consider Sunderland over the free parking in Newcastle.
