Players we will immediately lose if we go down

Pickford should really stay a season or two for regular games IMO. As much as I rate him he may not go somewhere else and instantly get in and get games, which he needs.

Not really bothered about the rest, Defoe will go regardless.
Other than Defoe and Kone, he's the only one of our players who *would* actually get a start for another Premier League side.

Will be starting next season with larsson , jones, O'Shea etc - the usual suspects

Defoe would be unbelievable in that league, however the chances of him staying must be almost zero.
I reckon he would - why not, England clearly isn't going to happen and winning a league may be better than mid table premier league / subsistitute for a good team

Other than Defoe and Pickford who would leave imo, I'm not that bothered about any of them going.

Suppose the sensible thing would be to try and hang on to some experience and some younger players and add the right signings for the championship. Out of those who might stay, I'm not sure we've got much experience now that would cope with the championship though tbh.

Pickford
Defoe
N'Dong
Borini, as shite as he's been this season he'll probably have enough suitors in Italy to be away
Kone

If we go down and both Pickford and Defoe were to leave our current squad would struggle in the Championship
If we did lose them I still fancy us to win the league. We would loan a striker off a premier league club to replace Defoe. The rest we can pretty much hold together and then look to the build in January depending where we were.
I think catts would also end up with another PL club like.

It is easier to list the players who will stay. I can't see many. Most if not all I hope will leave.

Clearly not Defoe but he will be off due to his quality. Though I hope he sees the Championship as a good final chapter to his career. Some top players end up at somewhere like Notts County before retiring. I hope the doesn't happen to JD. I pray he can end his career in a high playing in the Championship which is a far better end than League One.

I don't think anyone would take a gamble on Cattermole with his injury record

I agree but we are run by idiots and they will cash in on him rather than try and build a team around one of our own. I wish we could get Brian clough out of the grave to come and show these imbeciles how a football club should be run. He wouldn't let club directors tell him to sell the Crown Jewels.

It's the way of the world these days. What we have to do is maximise fees. We should have someone's eyes out for Pickford, in excess of £30 million. The Mags got that for crap Sissoko.

Pickford is young, English, talented and has his head screwed on. He could easily play at the top level for 15 years, which works out at £2 million a season if we charge £30m.

I hope Bain has balls and can negotiate.

Pickford will go
Mannone will go to Italy
Mika out of contract (edit 2 year deal so wI'll still be with us)
Jones out of contract
Lescott out if contract
Kone will go
O'Shea out of contract
Dodgybodji will go possibly to France
NDong will go
Larsson out of contract
Kirchoff out of contract
Pienaar out of contract
Anichebe out of contract
Khazri will go
Borini will go
Defoe will go

Leaves us after loans
Styrek
Love
McNair
Oviedo
Rodwell
Cattermole
Gibson
Asoro
Gooch

With Matthews and Buckley to come back from loan Lens will clearly be off.

That is one hell of a rebuilding job considering we've got fuck all cash to spend.

Well aware we might give contracts to a few who are out if we go down but still.

When clubs with messed up ownership/management/financial situations (particularly all three) go down, ugly things happen. It's a pipe dream to think any of our players who have proven they still belong in the Premier League (even if only on rare healthy occasions) will stay or re-sign, particularly given the apparent financial and ownership issues. Pickford, Defoe, Kone, N'Dong, Kirchoff, and Anichebe are probably all in that group; even Billy Jones might be able to go somewhere as a reserve on nice wages. Hell, someone might even take a chance at Rodwell if we pay some of his wages. Players who still have enough of a reputation abroad to jump ship to top flight teams on the continent will likely do so - bye bye Borini, Khazri, and Lens, possibly Mannone as well. I doubt Moyes stays after what would be a painful end, and he'd take most of his crew of geriatrics and others with him. That doesn't leave much.

Very good summary - isn't Buckley out of contract though? Thought he was on 3 years beginning August 2014.
